What 30 year old cars do you think will be collectible in the future? Maybe they already are? Curious on opinions.

I had a Viper that I held onto forever thinking it would increase in value, I got bored. I've moved onto Mercedes.

Clean GMT800 single cab short bed V8s, they are already expensive.

04-06 GTOs

C6 vettes

Any manual car
I remember hearing they were coming back out with the GTO and then the utter disappointment I felt when I saw it.

As to any manual car, I'm confident in my decision to let my 2004 Hyundai Accent go. It was a great car, but all things must come to an end.

And not shitting on you, just 2 random thoughts that came to my head.

The GTO is definitely an acquired taste, I had an 04 and loved it but not many people shared that same love when it came to the looks. They are rare so I’m sure they will demand a premium someday.

As far as manual cars go, I should have said manual sports cars lol.

I really expected a RWD V8. My Matco dealer had one that he road raced. He enjoyed the hell out of it.

They are RWD V8s, they shared the same drivetrain as the matching year base model corvettes.
Maybe I'm misremembering, I thought it was a supercharged 3800 FWD. Either way, didn't care for the looks. I worked at a Buick dealer, so I never got any through the bay.

Maybe you are thinking of the Monte Carlo SS?

I'll second the C6 Vettes. I have a 2013 60th anniversary 427 convertible that I'm pretty sure has gone up in value. This model was basically the only convertible C6 Z06 ever made.

There is a guy in town with a Black 05 GTO, nothing a care about, but he has some nasty exhaust on it, sounds good going by. Just giving some credit to the GM folks.

I’ve thought about this, not just 30 yo cars but even newer.
I think the Dodge line of Hellcats and Demons will definitely be considered. Maybe the Jeep Trackhawk.

The amount of plastic is the big problem with modern cars becoming "classics" or aging well at all.

My OBS Yukon has a dash that has broken at all the upper mounting points, no easy fix for that.

Newer vehicles use plastic intake manifolds, timing chain housings, chain guides... that won't age well.

Fuel injection components, injectors, pumps, control units and wiring isn't simple like a carb to keep running.

Add to that "sticky" trim / switches / buttons that again are unobtanium.

50's / 60's cars and trucks used steel. Stainless steel even... that is why they are still "restorable".

I'm sorry, Corvettes don't go up in value. Way too many were made. Maybe, maybe an edition like you have. But that's a maybe at best. I would not "invest" in them. Not discounting them, it's just what I've seen a lot of.

Anything Porsche, specifically air-cooled. Many German cars from the early 90s to the early 2000s. M3, M5, Mercedes E500, E55, some of the SL's etc.

Once CA gets done banning ICE vehicles, any ICE vehicle will be a modern classic. Assuming CA doesn't just ban DMV renewals for anything ICE immediately after.

Just checked and it seems like I could sell mine for about $10K more than I paid. 🤷‍♂️

These are essentially an import of the Australian Holden if i remember correctly right?

They were badass sleepers back in the day, RWD with an LS1

I would buy AMG Mercedes, Porsche and BMW's with low build numbers. They are crazy cheap for the 20-30 year old ones.
