There was a reality show about a flying service there, I read the owner of that service passed in 2023 flying a hunter out.

Those tiny towns depend on G.A., no other way in/out in winter. More sad news for Unalakleet.

I've had some pucker flights up here over the years, 2 friends that have been on planes that went down, luckily both survived. Larger planes cancel due to weather all of the time and our company will hire charters to move us, sometimes not the shiniest craft.
If he was in a holding pattern at low altitude I wouldn't think he would ice up but 17 degree's and windspeed maybe. ?
