It's not like John Wayne is a super complicated airport. The runway has a real big 21 on it. Taxi way.....not so much. He's had 4 or 5 "incidents" in 20 years of flying. My dad had 1 in 45 years of flying: one wheel landing in a B 17 in 1944...

Hang em up, Harry!

Damned sure misses having Chewbacca to navigate.....:yikes

I'd guess the FAA will really consider grounding his ass this time.

He needs to fly aircraft that allows for a co pilot.
Ford is a big advocate against fossil fuels and his hobbies consume more than any other I can think of.

20L or R with reciprocals for Santa Ana wind conditions. Complicated is ORD or BOS. That's why they there are pubs to assist aviators... even in VFR conditions. Taxiing around these places is tougher than landing. SNA was easier before they started using the short runway as a taxiway for air carriers. Thanks to your Dad for landing the B 17 successfully.

Any real pilot knows the more you fly the greater the chances you will make a mistake such as this or similar types, runway, taxi way incursions happen more often than you would think. For sure he needs a flight review but as long as he can maintain the requirements, medical certification he should be treated no differently than any other pilot in the FAA system.
It's the fuckin media that's the problem, the fact is he didn't land on the AA airplane and caught his mistake before it became an accident.

His luck you say? He is one lucky dude for sure, and personally if it were me at 74+ I would consider a second crew member for safety reasons...especially with the type of aircraft he fly's

Some have said the worst pilots are Doctors, Lawyers, and Rich People...I'm a professional and schooled by American Airlines Flight Academy and the first thing they teach is Take Flying Dead Serious and Leave your Ego checked at the baggage counter or someone will die!

True he did fuck this up pretty bad, but having a second set of eyes could have prevented it, like someone saying hey ur lining up with the taxi way boss...
