I see mega resorts popping up
That is exactly what is feared and why they want to take it back to a culturally significant location. The price of land on west Maui is outrageous. Another inmate said he was dropping $20G for a family of 4. I just spent 8 days on the Big Island. 3 of us, $5000 including food. We stayed upslope in the ohia rainforest. 20 minute drive to Onekahakaha beach where the locals go with their children. I was gracious and humble. The locals were cool AF showing me around town and shit. It’s very different outside the tourist destinations.

RIP Everyone

Fucking Sad!!

Been Vacationing in Maui for last 20 years...

I hope all locals can rebuild...

I'm surprised there was not a storm surge from the Hurricane induced winds??

I wonder what time high tide was??

RIP

Someone, or hate to say government, needs to organize the rebuild on that town or it’s going to sit haphazard for decades. People will take their insurance checks and leave. If they want a Lahaina again they will need some building codes, a master plan and huge incentives for people to get moving or sell the dirt to someone that will rebuild.

I remember after Iniki in 1992 hotels in Poipu sat for over a decade rotting. We were there last October and the Coco palms is still rotting on side of the highway

That was me. But that is a 5 star resort in Wailea and lie flat business class on Hawaiian airlines. The best of everything.

The trip was kinda a splurge before my colon surgery in a few weeks.

Otherwise I would not have been so extravagant with the travel plans.

my best friends brother is donating pretty much all he has, as his home was spared the fires of Kihei. He lost his business in Lahaina. The news is not painting an accurate picture of this tragedy.

Trust me, I’ve done the resort deal too. More fun for the kids. Best of luck with the surgery.

It has been clear for awhile now that the media is controlled and only broadcasts what fits the agenda. This tragedy unfortunately wasn’t an accident and more FACTS will come out shortly.
Wow. If someone did it on purpose..... they need the gas chamber.

I don't believe it was intentional to start a fire like this. Let alone 3 at once all over the island. News only reports on the tourist spot and tragic loss of Lahaina. Power lines and outages were reported prior to the fire. The actual scene that the media is not reporting is home evasion of undamaged homes. Armed robbery. My friend returned to visit his business and witnessed a man who discovered his family burnt alive, the man saw his destroyed home and proceeded to walk into the street and shoot himself in the head

Our American president is a piece of sh*t, I have not seen one effort of developing a plan to help the local people of Hawaii. No address to the people of the the mainland to encourage support. We are all human and there needs to be other support from our government immediately. Yet they will report a school shooting all day. Humanity is at loss if you are blind and woke or a fucking idiot. All donations are going straight to tourist leaving the island. That's why I posted my friend going in to the actual people in need to support. Literally cleaning out his closet of his clothes etc. Anything that could be beneficial to locals. Hawaii was stolen by the USA along time ago. Many people are houseless now but not homeless. Hawaii will always be home to the lhg.

She needs to tell us what happened
This is another posted woke conspiracy. All actual posts of true facts are deleted quickly. Hence my previous post of a painted picture that does not give us in the unknowingly, a vague vision of the desperately needed aid. Things are getting done. The government is helping. The media is just a soft piece of shit tasting bubble gum I spit out a long time ago. Let's go Brandon. You incompetent puppet

As I cancel our family vacation. I will donate my reservation, which is refundable to the maui relief fund. I can't bare to drive through the devastation. So many memories. The locals need housing. I've read posts about the homeless issue all over Hawaii on every island. I'm not giving up my happy place. Instead I've decided to due charity work while I'm there with my kids. Trying to teach them to help others in need. There is a catholic church that allows this. I'd like to teach my children to help others in a time of need. My mother took me to serve the homeless on Thanksgiving in South Gate California. Got some perspective for sure. Did it twice

I agree with you on many of your points and beliefs,. Am I wrong in thinking the islands vote democrat straight across the board?
The devastation is not lost on anyone with a heart, the internet is full of coverage that’s not spun for ratings, you just have to look for it.

You are not wrong. I only believe that people are in need regardless of any ethnicity, religion or politics. I can see through all the bs. The Hawaii culture is resilient and proud.

I agree with they need and should receive help, I was surprised by the disdain for Biden, which I share. I wouldn’t count on him to do anything positive for Maui but see and expect help to come from a large and broad group of people.

Gov of Hawaii is now blaming the Maui fires on global warming. There has been zero tropical activity in the entire Atlantic for a number of days. Is that also caused by global warming?
So powerlines being knocked down by strong winds from a hurricane off the coast of the islands is because of global warming🙄. I did not know that hurricanes are super-duper rare in Hawaii😉. Fukn moron

Since January 17, 1893 the federal government has treated the people of Hawaii with contempt. Land issues, poisoning the ground water at red hill, the list goes on and on. Voter turnout is extremely low (mail in upped that a bit), and the overwhelming sense in the native community is to not vote (as it legitimizes the system, though this sentiment has been changing..TMT was a big catalyst on the shift). The older population of Japanese decent votes straight D almost in all cases....you could have a rabid mongoose running for governor and as long as the D is there...its a landslide. Natives as a whole are more conservative leaning and religious, especially outside of the city in more rural areas.

There is a lot of good ol boy back door deals, that aren't even really hidden over there...its just the way its always been. Not to mention people in office are "wash rinse repeat" you see the same names in different offices, then they get named to groups/projects/agencies to line their pockets even more once they are done. I worked for the Hawaii Republican Party at one point for nearly 2 years in college. Hawaii politics is self serving and self dealing on a level most people can't fathom.

Josh Green is a New York Liberal... He's as self serving as they come, and he has bigger aspirations so he's playing party politics. He stated that he was "honored" by the presence of FEMA reps, guy is a clown and a lot of people (who unfortunately don't vote) despise him and what he stands for. He ruined a lot of businesses during covid pushing his agenda. Like button boy fiasco David Ige...they get re-elected/elected because of the D after their name.

It's pathetic that instead of trying to solve issues for the impacted people...o'l josh is parading around with feds, and doing non-stop interviews. Self serving just like he always has been. (I have been calling him out for years..the guy blocked me on the gram a long time ago lol). As has been stated above...Hawaii people show up, and protect/support their own...with or without the feds and josh green.

I responded that it is every American that should support another in a time of need. My friends that live on the island gave everything they have. Just because you live in a different state or island, you should hold some compassion for their troubles. The problem is downplaying the support by former us president and acting us president that one island is not as important as the rest. USA is a nation. The lack of support by our nation is disgusting. Your laughing smiling 😆 face on responses reflects your character. Henceforth you need to check yourself

Thanks for taking the time to catch me up from a local point of view. Tulsi was my only insight and I liked her, my dem friends called her a traitor so I liked her more. How is she from a local’s view point?

I don’t view tulsi as a democrat. She’s what Id call independent and I think she’s pretty well rounded, very smart person. She had to run as a dem to get elected though. Unfortunately her political career in Hawaii is essentially over, she dared to challenge the party.. Her dad’s a bit “out there” which has hurt her imo in local politics. I’ve met her twice and one of my really good college friends was one of her aides when she was in Washington, she seems genuine and I know she treated her staff well.

Ige destroyed the state well in advance of any fire, pos and Green as jackass #2. But like Cali, voters just keep electing them, dumb azz American voters, all self inflicted.

I believe even Tulsi got sick of the bs.

You can’t say it’s an act of Mother Nature

if you do a little research to find other studies going back to 2014 and 18 after some hurricanes came through Hawaii, all the detail this potential

It was done by the university of Hawaii, and then American meteorological society. They talked about the unusual weather conditions that can occur on the islands and the invasive see species of plants that need to be mitigated.

History shows is , that virtually nothing was done, and none of the powerlines in Lahaina will put below ground. so the initial spark, whatever started, this may not have changed, but the damage afterward could’ve been prevented had government done their job.

There were many warning bells in many studies.

Hawaii is essentially a welfare state in the sense. It needs millions of dollars in federal government to support their unique conditions every year. Why didn’t they ask for grants to take care of these serious issues?

I read somewhere the Sheriff in charge over there is the same Sheriff that was in charge of Vegas during the Route 66 shooting. So either total incompetence or maybe all part of the grand plan. I don't trust anything the government says.

That is a negative. You realize that Sheriff is the governor of Nevada now, right?

I believe Joe Lombardo was Sheriff of Clark County NV during the Route 66 shootings. Lombardo is now the Republican governor of NV. He began serving in that position in Jan 2023.

Maui does have a connection with Las Vegas, John Pelletier. He was a Capt with the LV Metro Police at the time of the Route 66 shootings. Appears a Capt in the LVMPD is below the Sheriff, Undersheriff, Asst Sheriff and Deputy Chief. Pelletier is now Police Chief of Maui.

Thank Goodness FEMA is “boots on the ground” assessing property damage and working closely with the Red Cross to gets supplies in and out to needy residents.

What is the most FEMA will pay out?
👇🏽
While FEMA offers up to $36,000 for each eligible household, the average grant payment is around $5,000. SBA disaster loans: If you need more financial assistance than FEMA provides, you can apply for a disaster loan with the Small Business Administration. April 20, 2023.

I’m sure you will change your post above. #241.😙 😝 Just curious, what is the connection . 🤷 Got a link? 🤔
Read post #245. You can Google a link. There’s a number of them concerning Lombardo and Pelletier, each ex LV LEOs.

I've been seeing videos of a DEW starting the fire. The video is also out there of where the fire was in a perfect circle. Curious if our government or another government is behind this.
