Hey Guys,
Is there a map available that shows river mile markers? I'd love something that has all relevant attractions, hazards, etc integrated, but not necessary. Im hopeful that something is available through Avenza! I like looking at a map that shows my location on it.

Might even be two seperate questions.
A: What is a good river Avenza map?

2: What map has river mile markers?

I could add mile markers by GPS location, if GPS coordinates are available anywhere. Same thing with resources (fuel) or hazards (shallow rock bars, etc.). I've found some good info, and have some stuff saved, but would like a map that has all of this sort of stuff listed. If none of this is available, I may have to look into creating a map for the river, that has locations of anything relevant.

Thanks much!

Thanks! I was just checking that map out. Thats what made me start thinking about it. I didn't see any river mile markers on it, but I will look again. I was also really thinking that I'd like a "referenced" map, such as those on Avenza, that will show the user's location on it.

The Colorado River. Needles to Havasu, and Parker Strip. Well, entire river, from Lake Mohave, to the Parker Strip.

I know this is ‘crude’ at best .... I use Google Earth’s distance tool .... you can drag straight lines and ‘pin them’ and it Calculates the distance. I use it to figure out if I have enough fuel to make it to a destination. When I return & top-off my tank, I can ‘roughly’ tell my mpg. I’m not sure how to check the ‘Lat/Lon’ of each ‘point’, I’m sure there’s a way.... but this has worked for my needs. Here’s an example I just quickly did to demonstrate.

I'm a bit of a map nerd, since I use them for work. I like using Avenza, as it is "referenced", meaning that the map puts you on it, as a dot. So, you know exactly where you are. Here are a couple of the maps that I use. If I could get GPS coordinates for river mile markers, I would be super stoked. BLM and USGS provide a lot of free maps that have lots of detail, countour lines, etc. I want to find something that you can zoom into further, and mark rocks, shallow areas and river mile markers! If I get something figured out, I'll share it here. I'll talk to the GIS (mapping) guys arlt my work, and see if we can get something going. Might take purchasing some map referencing software to make it happen, though.

I may have finally found the perfect map series, for anyone that is interested! This is in Avenza. Shows "Mile Marker" 220 just north of the sandbar, heading up river from Havasu! Sounds correct to me, knowing that the Laughlin casinos are at River Mile 274.0, Avi is at RM 259.7, Pipeline is at RM 266.0, and Pirates Cove is at RM 234.9. So, sounds correct that Havasu is at 220+. Its the CA-AZ Castle Rock map, at the top of the third picture, for anyone interested. There will be quite a few more maps to get the entire river. I want to say that this map was $2, but many others are free. You can pin (save) any landmarks that you wish. After a season on the river using this map and pinning stuff, I could email files with all pins. Would work well in conjunction with the first Google map referenced by Twitchy in the second post. I will probably copy the GPS coordinates from that map and save them to these maps, and see how that works. If anyone is interested, the Avenza mapping app is free. I pay for the Pro version, but only so that I can upload my own maps into the system for fires. We use this software a lot in wildland fire fighting. We upload our fire maps into the system, then can update them daily, as fires spread. Pretty neat. Also, these maps (and user location) work even without cell service! You only need a GPS signal to your phone. I use these maps on Lee's Ferry, for duck hunting and fishing in the winter, and it works in there, even with the steep vertical canyon walls on either side of the river.

EDIT: Keep in mind that this satellite imagry was captured in 2012! The river, and its sandbars change from season to season. So, don't throw this app up on your phone and think that you're going to be navigating channels with it! The sandbar move. Just like any GPS/technology, its a tool, to use as reference, and it doesn't replace looking outside of your boat, or reading the water!

An absolutely INCREDIBLE list! This is exactly what I was after. I'll work on entering the geographical descriptions into my Avenza map. Thank you SO much! Merry Christmas, everyone!

I have a PDF with all the River miles, from the Mexican Border to Glen Canyon Dam. Not a map, but a list with points and features and at what mile marker they're located. It's on an old hard drive, so I'll have to dig it up.

That was easier than I thought.

THAT IS INSANE . . . GRACIAS SIR !!!!

I've had that, or a similar one, on file for, like forever. We had to list River Mile in our Boating Accident Reports, going all the way back to my CG days in the '70s. If you'll notice, some of the place names are old, such as La Paz Park is still listed as "Ah Villa". Likewise, the La Paz/Yuma County line (it's at Clear Lake/Yuma Wash RM 62.4) isn't there and the south Mohave County Border is still listed as Mohave/Yuma County line. So be sure to confirm the current names before entering into a GPS or other geo system.

Lake Mohave used to have markers on the AZ shore line showing the River MIle. Anyone know if they're still there?

Great info, thanks BC !! Interesting the show mileage heading upstream, but list the bay or tributary entrance (Or side of river) L or R heading downstream.

For a map map, the fish N map company makes waterproof maps with GPS and mile markers, resonably near roads, depth for fishing, my go too.

You can pin things on google maps then download the map for offline use, that way it’s on your device

I'm very grateful that you shared this with us here on the forum! I've printed, laminated and bound this as a little waterproof booklet that I keep in my boat. I'm very grateful!

I noticed that nobody has answered this yet. I haven't been on Mohave since my Rescue Diver check dive a few years back.
