So sweet. Is that Carson with the start up?
Look forward to how things go on Friday.
Have a great time.
You should see some of the dozen Mandella's here in Tucson that Eddie's Inboard Marine has restored over the years . Mine is in for total restoration including returning it back to FE 427 w/all Holman Moody gear .One of the nicest Mandella’s around today. That motor sounds awesome. What are the details?

Yes the McPheeters and Brummetts have been good friends since the early sixties . My father and Eddie Sr have been friends since High School . He built my fathers boat in 69' We found it a few yrs ago and bought it back .Nice. Yeah, Carson has shared some of the back story on the Tucson connection/dealership. I used to follow a guy on insta with a short deck, silver metalflake, I think his name was Ryan and I think he was from the Tucson Chapter of Mandella fans.
There is a bit more recent news with Tucson and Brummett but I'm not at liberty to share. Cool stuff though. I wonder if another long deck will ever be made from scratch. I need to get more details on the pedigree of my hull but I know it was Carson's boat then he sold it to his BIL then it got sold to my Dad in early 80's and finally got rigged for the first time.
Yes it is almost completely done . Not sure why the slow down on it but is a beauty . The Gel color is exactly the same as what mine is being redone in which is almost the same as what I posted but a little brighter .Any of you Mandella lovers know how 77' Mandella's long decker turned out ?? He used to post on here, then disappeared.

Here is a shot of Tyler Louis in Jim Louis's Raw Hyde after it had been refurbished
I believe it was Steve Shermoens ski race boat before Jim raced it.

That is coolMy dad purchased the boat from Jim and did the restoration/rebuild. We enjoyed it for a couple years and then he sold it back to Jim.

They can handle big power easily . If memory serves me right it is a still a 3 degree V on the bottom so it handles chop better than a true flatbottom . Bare hull weight is around 900lbs and has a 1-1/8" floor . They are pretty indestructable as far as running hard in chop . The 66' in my avatar has a 460 Ford stroked to 514 W/ported TrickFlow heads , full Crower solid roller , MSD marine box and billet distributor w/ dual 750's . She would turn 6800 to 7000rpm all day turning 22's at 98mph .On a good day she could hit 100-101mph on GPS . I sold that boat a few yrs back to Eddie's good friend Here it is restored and color changed to purple . Otherwise it is almost exactly the same as it was when I had it .Two yrs later my fathers 69' showed back up and I bought it to restore above . Will have BBM FE 427 Block and Heads set up to turn 7000+.How well do the mandella's handle big power, speed, chop etc.? Do they require extensive bottom work to run 90 + mph? Are they all really heavy? What would be a typical bare hull weight on a std deck, long deck etc. Like many here, I really appreciate the old school cool element and hull shape/style.
Sweet, I especially like the BBF application. IMO we don't see enough of those eng. combo's being utilized. What Kinda H.P. does it take to run that speed in those heavier hulls? Do they require bottom mods to run stable at those speeds or does the stock bottom get that done? What prop angle do you run for setup? I assume you had to move eng, v-drive strut forward and lower the shaft angle from the stock ski boat application to be able to run those speeds?
On a side Note: How do you like the trick flow heads? How is their quality (material, machine work etc.) as compared to say a AFR, Edelbrock, Dart etc. I was just about to pull the trigger on a set of those for a pump gas BBC I am building but they were slightly too big for this particular app. so chose others. It seems I rarely see T.F. heads in boat applications. I've heard they make a really nice head for the BBF. I've so many Q's but I don't want to derail the OP'S thread any more so I'll stop here with them. Thanks for the insight's.
My apologise to the O.P. Your Mandella looks and sounds awesome. I hope your trip friday goes flawlessly as well as on your family trip to Lake Powel with your brother and familiy. That is really cool you are able to provide that for them.
I never dynoed the engine but would put it in the 650hp range . No modifications to the bottom and normally a 9degree strut shimmed to 8 degree . Eng placement is standard Brummett location .Sweet, I especially like the BBF application. IMO we don't see enough of those eng. combo's being utilized. Indeed. Hoping all goes perfect for you.Good luck today J DUNN .
Had a great day! Took my two sons and a very close friend of my Dads who has history with the boat. We launched at Pirates and did 3 runs up river. It was awesome! Tons of fun, I could’ve stayed all day! I’ve got a short distant vid shot by my son from a peninsula beach, I’ll post that later. I met a great guy beached next to me, RDP member who remembered my post after I told him about the boat. Had a nice chat with him and his family.
Biggest take always for me was:
1. They’re dual 1050 Holley carbs, they pump plenty of fuel. Both restarts after a run, I flooded the engine and had trouble starting. Lesson learned.
2. Gotta go back to duck bill drains your evacuate water. Slowing down the water rushes up to vdrive and is a bit annoying. Probably a few seals we could add grease to also.

Wow, how cool is that entire program!!!!Getting a deep clean on while wife is out of town and I can take over the garage that has a mini split so I don’t sweat my butt off.
I have half the vdrive left to polish along with oil pan and fuel filter. New battery goes in tonight then do a one step polish on white interior and a coat of wax on white then put seats in and put her to bed. Ready for Powell next week.

What, there wasn't enough wax on it already?Getting a deep clean on while wife is out of town and I can take over the garage that has a mini split so I don’t sweat my butt off.

It was an amazing day filled with great memories. I'm very happy to see the boat back in the Dunn Family as an heirloom and tribute to Dan, he would have been very proud indeed. I'm truly blessed to have had Dan and his amazing family in my life for many many years. And also a big thank you to the Lynch family who have taken the best of care of her during her stay.Had a great day! Took my two sons and a very close friend of my Dads who has history with the boat. Met you at the Pirate and enjoyed our visit. I have to tell you the story of your Dad and the history with that boat was a feel good story if I ever heard one. What many on this forum recognize but many don't, if there was a Hall of Fame for boats, it would be in it. The history of that boat is incredible and the fact you grew up in it then it was sold, restored by a real boat lover and then you having the opportunity to rebuy it is Crazy. Let's hope that boat stays in your Family for many years to come. Congratulations !!
PS: Love the Labradoodle
