Karen Bass, the Mayor of Los Angeles advised wildfire victims to seek help on a website…

Bass cut $17.6 million from the fire department's budget despite California’s wildfire risks, citing "tough budgetary times."

Instead, she allocated funding to progressive initiatives, such as:

$100,000 for the “Midnight Stroll Transgender Cafe” for unsheltered transgender individuals

$100,000 for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Awards

$8,670 for the “One Institute the International Gay and Lesbian Archives”

$13,000 for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Heritage Month Programs”

$14,010 to the “Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles”

$170,000 for “Social Justice Art-Worker Investments”

Meanwhile, the LAFD’s 2023–2026 strategic plan emphasized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a key goal, with fire chief Kristin F. Crowley prioritizing a DEI-centered culture.

A couple days before it left for Ghana a memo was sent to LAFD to cut $49 million MORE. Then it went to Ghana and all hell broke loose.

LAFD has a funding amount about 25% lower than City homeless spend.

I think property taxes need to be paid regardless... Dont know for sure
Gonna be hard for anyone to be inclined to pay for something that really isn't there anymore. If that makes sense. These people have already lost EVERYTHING. They should be offered alternative measures for a period of time. Just my .02.

If you guys knew how much money the homeless
And disabled get in California you’d shit..

My brother is on SSI and some other benefits.. he gets about a grand a month from SSI alone.

He just came out of jail yesterday and he’s got around 5k in cash that I have for him. if he makes it over to get his benefits reinstated they will back pay the last year and a half so he will get 12-13k..

He can literally walk one window over and say “I want to start a business” and with zero biz plan zero nada they will hand him a check for 10k..

It is seriously disturbing how much money all these fuckwads receive.

FYI he didn’t make it 45 minutes from the time he got out of jail to when I got there and he was already drinkin with another homeless
Person. Decided he’d rather goto Walmart and get some clothes that fit a sleeping bag, two felt tip pens (for the sign) and get dropped off at a freeway off-ramp that he says is good for 100.00 an hr.

I asked why he’d want to do that when he’s got 5k sitting right here.. it was basically to go party with the homeless guys and celebrate that he’s out of jail. Lol.

Good luck with all that.. I can’t get out of this shithole fast enough.

Homeless starter kit..
2 pair of pants.. 2 shirts.. one heavy sweatshirt. Two felt tip pens. Sleeping bag.. backpack.. and of course three Smirnoff smash’s.

Absolutly, you still own the property even if the house may be gone, that's why its called PROPERYT TAN, not structure tax!!!!
Any environmental cleanup guys on here? What's the cost (liability) to clean up a 10K sq ft property that burned? Say we had a $5M property pre-fire, with a $4M rebuild cost, and $500K cost to clean up the dirt....that property should assess at $500K now, and that case needs to be brought to the assessor's office immediately.

All that for Therse that don’t contribute to the system. Then there are people like my wife paid into the system for 40ish years. Has a brain tumor and it is removed. She went back to work 4 months later for just under a year struggling but wanting to work. She just could not function to the level needed and it created more stress on her body. Left to go on TDI, then LTD and the SSI said that she is not bad enough to claim social security. The system is clearly broken. The question is are we at a point where people are going accept this?

You can correct me if I'm wrong...

But I'm pretty sure it's based on the property Value?? Mine went up, when I added on to my house, based on the square footage.

How much you figure a pile of ashes, in the middle of a war zone, is gonna be Worth next year?

What a fucking disaster this whole thing will end up being. 😞

Value went down so the taxes should at least be lowered to the value of the dirt. 👍

I comletely agree, unfortunately most of the property belonges to the HOLLYWOOD ELITIST that are just now calling out the liberal goverment run by SCREWSOM who they fully supported prior to the devistation

And you can do that. File a request with the assessors office that your property value is affected by the disaster. Whether your house survived or not, your property value wont be what it was and the reduction can take place.

Now the only catch to that is what happens after the community comes back and they reassess. You could wind up paying a lot more taxes than if you had just let it ride and hoped they wouldn't notice.

Yes you will still own property tax. But the property is worth less without a structure on it. You can apply at the county assessors office to have it immediately assessed at the land value until a structure is rebuilt.

They just determined last week that hurricane victims still have to pay them in NC.
