The name of the big yacht is……… Eclipse. It is one of the top 5 largest yachts in the world.
Owned by Russian Roman Abramovich who also owns the Chelsea football team and a few other super yachts….Russian oligarch 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lady Lisa. One of two 80' Nortechs built. It was commisioned by Red Reynolds and captained by doug Valentine. When I wrote for Powerboat mag we went to sarasota with PBM. Terry Sobo from Nor-Tech, Jason Johnson Editor of PBM, Ryan Johnson sales, Doug Valentine, Bob Teague and my wife Kelly met Doug in the harbor and ran it out of Sarasota. It was funny because the PBM team had been in Ft. Myers and Sarasota testing boats and ran up to tour the Sea Ray facility and we hit the Nor-Tech factory as well. Then met up with Doug for the run on Lady Lisa. My wife was fucking with Jason Johnson the drive over saying, "so, I'll be able to drive it right? You're gonna pull some strings and get me behind the wheel right?" She was totally fuckin' with him but Jason, being the super nice guy he is was nervously like, "Ummm, I don't know if that'll be possible. Pretty sure we wont be driving it. We'll just let Doug do the driving..."

We get there, everyone meets, we walk about the boat and then we shove off. I'm down in the cabin taking pics as we're running like 65 off the Sarasota coast and both doug and Jason come walking down into the cabin. I'm like, "who's driving the boat?" And jason, all stunned says, "doug let Kelly drive!" lol Doug was down using the restroom and said, "she's fine, she's got it." Lol I was rollin'. Jammed up and snapped that pic of her at the helm.

That boat is absolutely stunning in person. So well laid out and thought out. Nor-Tech REALLY knocked it out of the park. It was the second and last they built. Terry said, it was too expensive to build. But man, such a cool boat.

You can kind've get the size of it from the pic of it with my wife standing on the swim step. It's MASSIVE.

Red sold it though. Don't known where it is now.

This video is in the cabin while we're running 65 (sorry the mic was fucked up on my camera)

I wonder if it’s too “expensive” by today’s standards. Obviously it’ll probably cost double now lol but multi million dollar “day boats” are more common now.

True. The time and effort at the time just wasn’t worth the end price. Juice not worth
The squeeze. I want to say it was 4 mil new.

Crazy to think a 50 MTI is 2.5 and a 52 cig is over 3 million.

We’ve only been out a few times this summer. (Stupid work & grandkid 😁). Really looking forward to burning some fuel this weekend.

Reminds me of what Hallett tried with the 290 and 400. I believe the idea is to draw air from the side holes and get it under the hull.

That’s the way my 335 is as well. I don’t know if they ever did the vented sides on the 290 & 400?

With a 1400+ motor wouldn’t the M8 potentially have been a better drive? They knocked this one out of the park.
I feel like I remember reading somewhere that the m6 has less drag than the m8 drive. That could be the reason for the drive choice

From what Mark said it’s not an ocean boat so the drive last. If it was coming in and out of the water a lot then the m8 woulda been better.
