I know SeaDek and Gatorstep have been discussed awhile back ... but I am trying to figure out is what about "in the long run" ? ...

They are beautiful and really update the look.

Anyone had theirs for a few years or more?

Do they get dirty and scuffed up so your eyes go right to the flaw everytime you get on ur boat?

I am stupid OCD about my boat ... and I just don't know how well these floors wear or how they will look in 5 years or so ?

Once they're in they're kinda in ... so u gotta live with any damage or whatever.

I sure would appreciate anyone's real experience advice. Thanks

.

I had Seadek on the swim platform of our last boat for 4-5 years before we sold it. On the occasions it got dirty and didn't rinse off I used a soft bristle brush to clean it. No problem with peeling edges but I also knocked down the original non skid with 80 grit paper on the RO sander before installing. I will be putting it on the Formula swim step soon. Still in winter storage. FWIW we're in NE Ohio so didn't need to deal with the Havasu heat if that's where you're at.

Just depends how easy you are on the interior of your boat. It does scuff, it will gouge and can be a pain to constantly wipe down. I had charcoal grey in my last boat and it always showed dusty foot prints really bad.
It does look great new but I still prefer snap in carpet.

Mechanics f*cking hate it. Ya sure it looks pretty. But seadeck stains super easy. A boat covered in seadeck literally takes me 30-50% longer to complete a basic service on because of the extra care I have to take to not get the seadeck dirty as it will not simply clean out or wipe off. It absorbs everything like a sponge. I honestly rather work on a boat covered in teak every day of the week and twice on sunday.

Please look into snap in "SeaGrass"

If it starts taking mechanics longer to work on a boat regardless of why, it will drive up service costs eventually.....

Thanks for the post Mike K, That's why I never pulled the trigger on them. All the pics you see are new installs. Finally the truth comes out.

We’ve had it in our 2017 Malibu. We love it and would never go back to carpet.

I have been wondering the same thing. I think it looks great and have considered putting it in my boat, but have concerns about how it holds up over the longer term.

I have it in my G23 Nautique and it has held up for years. I would not hesitate to have it in a sports boat or river performance boat. Mechanics should be taking their shoes off in your boat and using a drop carpet. That being said I am holding off in putting it in my CC which sits undercover outside and I where shoes and flops on regularly while underway. It is a different use and cleans way easier with soap and brush in bilge.

Mine is almost 4 yrs old now and still great. Aside from a few spots of minor edge shrinkage(probably my install fault) it's still as good as it started out as.
I've had from cranberry stains to dog piss on it and nothing more than a rinse has washed it away.
This has been my experience with it. I'd never opt for carpet again for our type of boat(ing).

This was my thought the very instant i saw it hitting the market... And not even from a service perspective, just the average use. To me the stuff looks like you have to treat it with white gloves if you want to continue looking excellent, essentially defeating the entire purpose of having it.
