Ill try and keep this as short as possible to not bore anyone haha. I bought this Redline back in 2021 and was told motor was rebuilt and good to go. Was also told that a new fuel system needed to be figured out and installed. Doing my own research, I found out this boat has had fuel delivery issues since day one. After the frustration of a garbage engine build and a recommended failed fuel system, I finally got with the right group of people to get this boat back on the water and performing better than ever. There's still a couple of minor things that need to be addressed, but I just wanted to give thanks where thanks is due. Thank you @Racey for the vapor separation tank and @DaveH for the recommendations and fuel system design. Both of you have made it so this boat will never have fuel delivery issues again. Thank you Robert and his crew at Coast Motor Group for my drive rebuild. Thank you Tom Nelson and his crew for an awesome engine build! I'm grateful to be a part of the NRE family, a shop that stands behind their work and puts out some of the best engine packages money can buy. And thank you Chris at Danzio Performance for getting the tune dialed on the water.
Again, thank you guys for your time, knowledge and patience with all my questions haha.

Beautiful boat and great to hear you got it sorted out.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn’t mind hearing the long version of the story. How was it setup before you figured out the fuel delivery issues and any additional details on the fix could help us all learn a bit.

Thank you!
Originally this boat had a Holley red pump mounted to a stringer and I was told it didn’t supply enough fuel, so an Aeromotive AS1000 was added in line right before the Holley red pump. It then had enough fuel pressure, but was a bandaid fix to a problem. From what I remember, original owner said tanks were empty basically a little under 1/2 a tank on the gauge. That was because any lower in the tanks and it starts sucking air.
Like most boat tanks, these tanks have no baffles, so when you get low on fuel the fuel pump starts sucking air when the fuel sloshes around which leads to all sorts of issues. I assume more in my case because fuel needs to be pumped out from the top of my tanks rather than coming from the bottom. The fix was to run a 100 micron filter into a Weldon fuel pump right at the top of each tank, then through a 6 port IMCO electric valve, through the vapor/surge tank which stores fuel for constant fuel delivery. Out of the vapor/surge tank fuel flows through a fuel/water separator, through the main Weldon fuel pump, through a 10 micron fuel filter, to the fuel rail and through the fuel pressure regulator. After that it goes back through the vapor/surge tank, back through the IMCO and back to its selected tank as a true fuel return.
Hope all this makes sense. The new system works great and I have consistent fuel pressure and not a glitch on the needle.

@Racey and @DaveH have done these vapor tanks on many different applications. Maybe they’ll chime in here…

I saw an on line video of this boat being tuned on the water by a shop in Nevada. You have a badass boat the motor has to be making a lot of power.

Makes perfect sense, thanks for the details. I have a ton of respect for @Racey and @DaveH not only for their knowledge but their willingness to share it around here. Both good dudes.

Hope you have a great summer with that a beautiful boat.

Thank you. That shop did not work out. I’ll leave it at that 😂

Beautiful!
Didn’t know Nelson did boat engines. Regardless don’t think you can go wrong with them. 👍
A lot of people don’t know that he was doing a lot of marine engines back in the day. He’s actually going to get back into the marine side and is working on some pretty badass packages now.

yes nice to see such a bitchin' boat working properly again.

SMPLV's findings of a horrible fuel delivery system from the original install should be of concern to anyone who owns one of these boats, and likely was the demise of more then one engine in the boat.

quite frankly, the fuel system was probably the worst example of fuel starvation issues I have seen in a boat to date. The long low profile tanks are a recipe for disaster to begin with. then the fuel lines went up high over a bulkhead and on to the fuel valve. the starvation was so bad it would cause the fuel system to loose prime completely.

As SMPLV points out, relocation of plumbing and components, the addition of true lift pumps, and a massive VST tank big enough in volume to handle any pump starvation is what it took to get the fuel system delivery working correctly.

Damn I’d love to have you take a look at my fuel system in my boat. I’ve had a few situations where i got air in the rails as well one pump over heating, even tho i hopefully straightened part of it out by rewiring and removing a butt splice with some corrosion as well.

@SMPLV id love more pics, without the zoom lol. As well the fuel pumps at the tanks. Your boat is still one of my favorite of all time.

Would really like to see how the fuel pumps are mounted at each tank and the plumbing on the vapor separation tank. For 26ft it sure has a lot of room in the engine compartment.

I fabricated an aluminum bracket to hold the fuel pump and fuel filter that is mounted right above each tank, underneath the billet RPM access panel. Here is picture of one of the assemblies and a diagram of my fuel system.

SMPLV thank you for posting the fuel supply diagram that is quite a system.
