Hello, just moved to LHC (downtown near Smoke Tree and Havasu Road). Can really use some advice on best "current" internet provider to go with. Our needs are wifi for a few phones, wifi thermostat and streat netflix off (2) tv's. Nothing crazy. The posts I have read seem old (some a decade or more) and looking for available updated info/reviews.

Have researched Frontier, Optimum etc. Looking for a month to month service until the area goes fiber (2024??). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Optimum (spectrum) gets terrible reviews around here but I’ve had them in 3 different houses and never had an issue.

That said, when Allo gets up and running I’ll make the switch. Some people love Starlink as well too.

I have Starlink, love it, but the initial cash outlay doesn't make sense if you can go Allo soon.

I have Starlink at the Islander.
The speeds drop in the afternoon, but still better than WifiFree!

Here is how I'd rate the havasu internet options

1) Allo is first choice if you can get it
2) Starlink would be second
3) Tin can w/ String
4) Smoke signals
5) lastly Optimum (suddenlink)
this is perfect...optimum is the worst dogshit ever

Thank you all for replies. Seems like I keep going back to Fronteer for 6 months or so until Allo comes in mid 2024.....

Verizon finally became available at my address and I'm happy. I even took it to my trailer in Blythe and it worked down there too 😉

Had Optimum for over 20 years
I can count on one hand the number of problems with 3 fingers left over
I do have to negotiate the price every year but for $19 a month, I stream movies and get internet to get on this silly site

I had optimum on the north side for 4 years.
Flawless service but the price was obscene.
I have optimum in fort Mohave now with 1 gig at less than half the price of Havasu service. (750 mb tested)
In Havasu you’re basically fucked, but if I moved back tomorrow I’d go with optimum regardless of the negative posts… and wait for starlink to mature.

Yeah I had almost zero issues with suddenlink/ optimum.
The price was where we fought constantly.

Pretty accurate, I have optimum for 4 years , just recently the service has been slipping . The insane , ridiculous circus act is you have to renegotiate your monthly cost every 3-6 months . When Allo gets here , optimum should just fold up their circus tent and move on .

Speeds will drop down into the 30mbps download range, from the normal 100mbps it averages.
Usually last for a couple hours, then back to normal speeds.

I’m running the T-Mobile cellular Wi-Fi currently in north Havasu. Haven’t tested it myself. Daughter said there was a noticeable slowdown on weekends vs during the week. Month to month plan and the rate was reasonable.

I wonder how much of a footprint Frontier has in the downtown area?
Not really promoting them, but they might be ok in the interim. They used to have an office on Lake Havasu Blvd, you could pay bills, exchange modems, ask questions and have a tech at your house the same day. Today everything is by phone and most service is a week out.

We have the Verizon box as well and it has worked flawlessly for us, even when we have a house full of people over using it.
