Tell me about it. I’m going with a buddy this weekend and I was gonna take the botë. I’ve only been on a jet ski a few years back riding up from Havasu and back in a day so didn’t really stop to check things out. Is the boating decent there or would it be better to do lake Mohave instead?

On a weekend it’s going to be busy that’s my only thing. I’m always watching but you can’t always predict what someone is going to do. Throw in like 5 or 6 someone’s and it can get dangerous. I’m sure you could go down and get away from the crowds though. Lake Mohave will also be busy. Need to launch early or late to avoid lines.

weekends anything north of Shiver River shaved ice ----FORGET ABOUT IT -----
pending the amount of people and size boat
-Telephone cove on the lake (dirt launch ramp and flat)
-Princess cove on the lake (all cement has a loading dock on water ---but real steep ramp angle) parking is close not that crowded as katherines landing --

or like Vic says

Early bird gets the worm and the good beach spot

I am not a fan of weekend crowds so I would launch at Kathrines Landing hands down. Even on busy werkends you can easily find an area of peace on the lake.

Easy is launching at the Riverside Casino.
Head south, beyond casino/jet ski row.
Mind the 5 mph zone in front of Harrahs. (You could head to the Dam, it's a 5 minute ride, just a lot of jet skis)

Beyond Bullhead Community Park, stay to the Nv. Side. About 4 miles south, there is an island, kinda behind Safeway, a small beach for a few boats.

Further south, about a mile, on the Nv. side, is Laughlin bay. Going in and to the left is a nice beach, also all 5 mph.

Going further south on the river, Big Bend of the Colorado State Park is on the Nv. side. Bring cash, buck-a-person to be on the beach. The lagoon is around the jetty.

Further south, stay to the Az. side around the Bush in the middle of the river. A quarter mile later, Boy Scout Camp is on the Nv. side. Some nice glass as you approach pipeline. Stay to the Nv side.

About a mile down is Lazy Harry's, on the Az. side. Entrance to Lazy Harry's channel is after the flags, for the Arizona Veterans Memorial. Shoes and shirts required @ Lazy Harry's.

The next channel over (south) goes to Sunshine Marina, Rusty has beer, ice and fishing supplies. He is the fish guru for the area. Also does prop repair.

Further south, Rotary park is on the Az side. BHCPD also headquartered there.

About 6 or 7 miles further, the Avi is on the Nv side. They have gas, too.

Yes there is a few places it gets shallow, but I have done all this and down to pirates cove in a Ski Malibu, and my Day Cruiser.

Just watch the water, you'll be fine, and if you think it's shallow, 'Mash on it'

Is lake Mohave a long drive?

I've been at Mohave in a bubble deck. It can be fun. Most times not. The wind, wake board boats, it's just not worth it.

My Day Cruiser does fine, but I still go to the river, unless I camp out for 2 or 3 days. Then I go up the lake a ways for the better beaches, and less crowds.

Princess cove is less crowded for launching, but it's a hike back to the truck. I'd rather hike, than be at the circus of Katherine's landing.

Just my $0.02

For an enjoyable day on Lake Mohave it would be best to trailer up to Cottonwood Cove and boat to the north of there. Nice ramp, there is an entry fee. Good road, easy tow and takes about an hour. Katherine's, just above Laughlin, is a zoo on the weekends. As far as the river in Laughlin on a weekend - forget it. The amount of rental PWCs has to be seen to be believed.

Saturday's outlook-

Looks like 3 units at 6 am (plenty for me)

4 units at noon (nearly a lake)

5 units at 2 pm. Till 8 pm. (Queen Mary could maneuver )

Head south young man.

Riverside is pretty easy. Decent parking.
Bullhead Community is too.
Big Bend I about 5 miles south of Harrahs
Lazy Harry's launch, might have parking issues. And having to wait for the water to come up. (~2 hrs after the Dam schedule)
Rotary is furthest from Harrahs, near Lazy Harry's.

Last few times I've driven by Big Bend, there has been a 20 car line out on needles hwy. Hit the riverside ramp early, once past community park the rental lice thin out.

Where do I launch if I’m at harrahs
If you turn left outta Harrahs about three miles , Bay Shore Inn has a launch ramp and parking, not nearly as congested as Big Bend. I can’t speak on beach space though. I personally would go down river from there, way less pwc! I have never launch there but it is close to Laughlin Bay Marina, Back Bay and Big Bend State Park. I don’t know fees either. The no wake channel has recently been dredged as well.

Wish I was boting this weekend!

If I remember right, you need exact change. Hence the delays.

Post 17 has the web site, and fees.

I never have used the ramp there. Don't know what kind of shape it's currently in.

Tried talking him into lower river for tomorrow, I’ll tell ya, that drive, yea I’d be all about Katherine’s as well it’s a hike.

To the op on a weekend I’d launch down off Riverview dr at the rotary park, and head south. North the issue is the majority is rental fleas, but on a Tues-Thurs the casino area is actually kinda fun to float past.

Also how many units on Sunday?

The projected operations only go 3 days.
Can find out tomorrow.

Saturday looks great
Sunday's usually slow down by 10 to 25 percent of Saturday

How is that sportster on the river?
Old lady claims she wants to explore the river but is afraid of sea doo's because of her back. Going up river does it slap the current like the smaller lice ?
I'm sure we'll be hitting you up for a rental next month. TIA

Boating Laughlin, you’ll spend all you time down stream. Boating Mohave, you’ll want to launch at cottonwood, and spend all you time up stream.
