I won't be able to come into Havasu until the day of the 4th, hopefully in town around 1000. The plan is to launch as soon I get there and then watch fireworks from Thompson Bay.

Since I was a day late and a dollar short in renting a slip for that day. Which ramp is the best place to take out at night?

Hope to meet other members while there, if you happen to see a 25' Nordic Scandia named "ABOAT TIME" with a roll bar, yes it is coming off this year, stop by.

Personally the riviera is gonna be the least of the shit shows of the main ramps in lake havasu..

Having done the boat thing several times.. and the launch ramp thing.. and the burning embers landing in the interior.. and some asshole shooting a flare gun off to watch the flare land in a boat right in front of me and watch that shit show happen..

I’ll be watching the fire works at the riviera party and drinking beers on land with live bands. lol

May walk down to my slip and have a few with the Woolery clan while I’m at it.

If you got kids, watching from the water is great, just better have patience.
If not, plenty of great areas on land to watch it and avoid the “shit show”

This is probably one time thing. Last show at Havasu was right after I graduated HS in '83. Right after that I left for the Navy.

How’s the fireworks show from the northwest side of island in the water?

North west? I don’t think you’d see it from over there.. it’s launched off the south east side?

That’s what I was wondering. If they could be seen 360 degrees around the island. I’ve seen them from Thompson Bay before about 30 years ago. Best fireworks show I remember seeing. Definitely want to see from boat. Just don’t enjoy the crowds as much these days. Was thinking maybe along the California shore might work out nicely.

I’d just sit further out in Thompson bay..

We are gonna watch from the riviera which is a mile or two south.

This is my plan… hopefully they block off some parking for slip holders…

My opinion, if you want to be in the water launch at the marina. Then park near the bouy line for the slips and be ready to hit the ramp asap. You can beat most of the drinks by doing this.

Or what I always did was just plan on staying out till about midnight or so. Alot easier to do with no family or kids granted.

Prepare for the bugs and gnats at sundown. They are kinda irritating for about an hour or so.

The last time we did it, we launched at the Springs and anchored in TB. Then we waited awhile for the boats to clear out and headed back to the Springs.

We tried to get a slip at the marina 3 weeks ago and they even said they already have a huge waiting list. Riviera Marina said all they had were houseboat size slips. We will be there mid day on the 3rd. We will be in the shit show to watch the fireworks. It's been too long since I've been down. Hope to see some inmates while we are there.

We did that one year, we just didn’t realize there was no moon that night and it was pitch black AF out there. We couldn’t tell if we were heading down the lake or just to the back of a cove. Yeah we had a spotlight on the boat but it wasn’t all that good for long distances.

If you do this, run a gps on the way up right down the center of the lake and breadcrumb it and then follow that back instead. As long as you don’t run over some asshole without their lights on, you can head back at a decent clip with some certainty your going the right direction.

Sounds like I am going to launch out of the Riviera. Is there pretty easy boat parking, going to launching by myself.

Boat parking might be easy, it just won’t be close. But the last time I was there I saw golf carts shuttling people up and back.

I think if you're by yourself, I'd hop on a buddy's boat and leave yours at home. Big weekend are tough.

Good luck.

Stay safe everyone.

I will be by myself just for the first part of the day. The rest of the weekend friends will be with me.

Those dark nights can be a challenge. GPS is a good suggestion.

Update:
Did not launch today, did go down to the channel and watched the fireworks. Looking at the bay I made the right decision.

Cool show!
