Anybody camped at NASCAR in Vegas?

I’m looking at doing a trip in February with a couple guys for the weekend. Planning to take my toyhauler but didn’t know if I should get decent seats for the races and camp in the big RV lot or go for the infield camping? Do I really need tickets if I camp in the infield or could we see enough from down there (I don’t want to climb on my toyhauler roof)

Get ready to pay a pretty penny for infield camping

Expensive.
Arrived a week early.

Yeah I’ve done it. RV camped at turn 4.
If I did it again I wouldn’t buy race seat tickets nor pit passes.
But that’s me. Maybe you’re different.
We thought all over priced.

RV was physically searched twice. Bomb dogs and dope dogs.

The social nightlife can be fun walking around checking out other camps but that’s about it. It ended there.

We figure they wanted people to go to town and gamble so not too many distractions at the track.
In fact none.

We used to camp the infield almost from the day the track was reborn in 1999.
We had a perfect last row end spot by the pedestrian tunnel. Could watch all the car haulers come in.
It was $400 and you got tix for the Busch series race on saturday.
Used to have a lot of grassy areas close to the fence where you could watch that section of the track.
Even on top of the rv it was sketchy to see the entire track.
If you could get a spot or afford it go up to Motorhome hill.
Then the prices started increasing every year. Finally went up to $1200 and we quit.
They also closed the pedestrian tunnel and opened the Neon garage so our viewing area was limited.
You also had to take a shuttle outside the park and come back in to get to the grandstands.
I think they removed all grassy areas too to make room for more RVs. If you have a pet it makes it even more difficult.

A lot of people knew ol "Bud"weiser and he made the news and Scene magazine with the #8 on him back when Dale Jr ran the #8 Budweiser

In 2010 Mullet Jims aunt died, then his mom who he was very close to died unexpectedly 3 days later, then his work was sold and he got laid off. All in one week.
Jimmy as big a NASCAR fan as you would ever meet.

So I picked up the phone can called the track and they put me in touch with the guy that handles center track RV parking.
He had a spot and it was $1400. Didn't include Cup tickets nor anything else.

Mullet Jim was one of the best friends I ever had so I picked him up and we went and RV camped at the LVMS track a week early.

My RVs usually sleep 12 to 14 or more people so I invited all the people Jim was close to and they joined us.
The best week I ever had in Vegas.
The track was a sleepy place so we went to town every night.

At 5:01 Mullet Jim and I actually towed my RV on and around the track. I never mentioned this because I forgot I videoed it and figured no one would believe me:

Quiet nights. The camp behind us:

The PT's Pub closest to the track employs Cirque du Soleil acrobats when they are between gigs or not performing and on light duty disability. In Nevada and Utah people could still pull a check in addition to drawing disability, or at least we were told that if on light duty.

Most the "disabled" girls are hot, chiseled party mode bartenders so we drank there a few nights. Epic.
We walked in to PT's one evening and many NASCAR drivers were at the bar holding court.
Way cool experience.

Every day various Las Vegas churches would stop by with cookies or some really good food item and hand it out.
Also, homeschooling classes in a race track meeting room for those kids whose families travel and follow the NASCAR circuit all season.

The Kardashians were just getting up to speed with their cosmetic line and they rolled by in a golfcart passing out samples. I had no clue who they were back then. Nice folks though.

This is the same time most the big off road racers take their trophy trucks to Dumont Dunes. Jimmy was heavily involved with trophy truck racing, well known throughout the ranks and every big name Trophy Truck driver and owner that was at the track came by my RV and hung out with us for a few beers and to cheer Jimmy up.

Well, every NASCAR fan camped around us knows who they are and that was it, we were famous too on the strength of them witnessing that.

The best part is the infield social scene. The worst is figuring out how you want to watch the race: in the grandstands with a seat that's hard to get to and costs too much, at the RV on TV, or catching glimpses of the cars going by from the infield fence. Anymore we stay home and catch it delayed on the DVR and power through the endless commercials.

The free air show from Nellis AFB is a plus that you don't get at any other track.

Thanks that’s the info I’m looking for. Nobody who I’m going with is an avid fan, mainly there for the social scene. I think I’m going to get 2nd/3rd row infield and put the race up on the TV

I go every year in the infield. Ex father in law has a huge spread on the fence at the end of the straightaway. We will park the motor homes on Wed and leave monday morning. The nightlife is pretty good. Its always fun to walk around and meet new people to party with. It will be hard for you to see much without being on top of your trailer.

Bringing this to the top.

Anyone camped in the infield lately? Thinking of taking the RV for the March 2023 race. From the map it looks like the spots are on top of each other. Anyways, any do's and don't for newbies?

We stay in the infield for both races. The march race is the bigger of the 2 races. watch the weather and plan for wind, rain and snow. yes they have all happened to us. The wind can get howling out there. We usually drive in on Thursday and leave monday. They have good services as far as shitter trucks and water trucks that go around and can service you so bring cash. They also have free public showers in the infield that i use. Ice has been the spotty thing to get. Some years they come around and sell it, others ive never seen them. The nightlife is pretty fun. Make sure you go visit the trivia bar. Hit me up with any more questions. Been going out every year for like 12 years.

When we went there we got there on a Tuesday and rented a car for a few days and went into Vegas so we were not stuck at the track all week
