We used River Action Landscaping a few years back when we built our home. They showed up on time, stayed on budget, did a quality job, and returned my voicemails. Unheard of in Havasu, lol.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for referring Tom for the landscaping for our project.
He came out to look at the job, but then never followed up with the estimate we talked about.
I'm not sure what happened, maybe he doesn't want to do business with people like us.

Tom owes me 3 boulders that was a part of the last work I paid him to do. I believe this was the 3rd time he’s been out doing separate work for us (and it’s always been great) however, he tells me there is some serious health issues with a family member and he is delayed in the follow up. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and belive he will come through.

He planted 3 new cactuses in April for us.

Not that I see. Every once in a while, you might see a small section of Bermuda type grass on an old 60's or 70's home, but very rare. Small sections of artificial turf would be a little more common.

Unlike Phoenix which has a similar climate, there is little or no good soil in Havasu, it's mostly rocks, gravel, sand. Phoenix has rich soil and has been fertile farmland for 1000's of years. So you see lots of lawns and trees in the Phoenix area but hardly any in Havasu. We did some artificial turf for our dog, big natural rocks including pool groto and waterfalls, metal cactus with landscape lights, and a large commercial sail shade. Looks nice and almost zero maintenance. Dog is fine with it, trained her to crap in the gravel side yard. Also Havasu has grubs in the ground that eat plants like agave.

BTW, if you want some color, these do well in Havasu with enough water from a drip system.

We like red & Yellow yuccas

The Red are very popular depot /lowes etc

but mixing in some yellow w/ the red is nice

some of the colorful plants drop leaves / flowers then get blown all over the place

I get red/purple Bougainvillea flowers in my yard and none of my direct neighbors have them… go figure !


oh Bottle brush do well also ! But they drop flowers leaves..
