I saw that two days ago. Short truly a non-pursuit, and I can tell a fresh out of academy boot broadcasting, but he got it done quite well. Brotha' turned himself into a real piece of meat. Now, I would have changed the tactics; when he was clearly going to split, just bickering about the T stop. Second unit could have slowly motored around and made a u turn blocking the Huracan. OR, it appeared that 3 units were on scene, one unit should have stayed in their car to go after him, that Lambo does 11 second quarter miles. He could have lost them in the second turn, had he been not so F'ed up on likely weed like EVERYONE else in LA after dark.

Not a big deal, but in the big picture this dumbazz could have easily killed someone at the first intersection. Aside from that, one less Huracan, and justice was served thug got a death sentence for GTA, not too bad.

Stolen Lambo followed by....you guessed it, one of the most impressive crash aftermaths you will see. Fast forward to 5:50 if you want to get right to the good part and skip all the foreplay.

WOW! 😲

Why has policy not progressed to where spike strips are not put under tires at initial stop?
Would stop or limit a lot of these pursuits or just drivers from taking off.
When I was doing traffic stops, the last thing I'd want is something else to carry up there and to have to take my attention off of the driver and occupants of the vehicle so I could put something under one of the tires. That's a good way to get shot.

You honestly have enough other shit to worry about when approaching a vehicle during a traffic stop, especially at night. Like @Wizard29 said, there really isn't a safe way to deploy a device like that......more so if you're working patrol as a solo officer.

He wouldn’t have killed anyone the car would have been banned. That is why these killer cars need to be outlawed and off the streets to save lives.

Glad no officers got hurt, and glad it happened when streets were pretty empty. Sucks about the car though. I assume it was a "rental" not returned, I thought they were a bit tougher to steal than a Honda...but don't know what "tools" are available these days.
I agree with the above though, one of the late responders/backups should have boxed him in. May have saved the car...could care less about skid mark.

The comments though…😆

“He flew so far he could have been accused of leaving the scene of an accident”

“He claimed he knew the law but was not familiar with the laws of physics”

I was surprised he wasn’t immediately pulled out of vehicle at initial stop. Cop said he was asleep behind the wheel at the intersection. More then enough to start a DUI investigation

On an incident like this, would they even bother looking at the cars snitch box? I'd be curious to know what speed it took to shatter the car and trim the tree. It looks like an aircraft's "debris field". I really hope it was insured.
