6 deaths in past 6 weekends.most was stupidity on individuals not operator errors. I usually avoid weekends and enjoy the midweek

It's not my favorite lake, but it's less than 30 minutes from my house with a good sized launch ramp and parking area that fits my boat so we tend to go there for local trips.

My opinion is it’s just to close to Phoenix, they let too many cars in before they’ll close it. The bank Is a drunken absolute shit-show.

Was there testing on Thursday and it was fantastic, other than being small.

I forgot about the vibrant crowd that sets up camp on the shoreline near the ramp. We typically launch at the 10 lane and anchor back towards the end of the Agua Fria river arm where it is pretty tame.

It’s more like the drunken shit show of the 3rd world of you ask me.

That would be a compliment of the drive-on beach scene at Pleasant.
We had to do our open water cert dives from the shore, and I can tell you I have never seen such a mass gathering of stupidity and human garbage than on those beaches.

Mid week if you have a boat and want to ski or just mess around its fine. Water is clear, its basically filled by Havasu.

Idk but the size of rattlesnake I saw about a month ago there that came out from under the docks and across the launch ramp will forever keep me from dangling my feet off any dock 🤣

Only time I've seen a bare knuckle brawl at the launch ramp between 50 yr old dudes. LOL!

It's basically idiocracy there.

All those people hanging out in the soup with a dead floater somewhere nearby. No thx! At least they are there instead of driving slow in the fast lane on the 101.

Closest lake to Phoenix, most of the deaths aren’t from boating. My aunt was airlifted out of there after there Campbell blew up. I had no idea how many Phoenix folk were in here. Perhaps when I get my float running we can plan a hooky day out there.

RIP. As much as I hope that’s the last death on the lake this season, we all know it won’t be.

There has to be an immense amount of pressure on the USCG and MCSO to get this under control.

I believe theres a schiada at the bottom of pleasant.. and there was a goofy deal about someone dying jumping in the water by a dock and got shocked in the water from the dock light electrical.. I pass by that entrance often to ride moto at boulders

Two brothers last year i think electric shock drowning.Has happened at powell too.all it takes is a bad ground and it can kill you just swimming off back of a boat with power or a generator on.Basically parylizes your body and you sink!

No way id swim in a harbor behind a boat after hearing these type of things. It doesnt have to be the boat you are behind either.

There’s all kinds of boats down there lol. Half hour drive from one of the biggest cities in the country?

More peeps have been out earlier, they get in that cold water and cramp probably, a kayak capsized for some hypothermia and a bass boat tosssd a few in recent months.

Definitely a weekday/ off-season weekend lake for me. But not a bad lake to have 20 minutes away.

Yup I enjoy the midweek I’ll take the 550 skis out only time I’ll let my daughter ride hers. We’ll cruise and check coves out. May do boat too. But if a weekend I’ll take boat out on Sunday go float in cove.

A lot of people are not aware of it. It’s a good read up think boat cop explained it once said that the current can be narrow on surface you can sink below it regain movement but end up swimming right back into it. Also tends to run from a boat to the shore to complete the ground or something like that.

Ehh Lake Pleasant isn't a terrible place. It gets pretty small pretty quick but the water is clear and as long as you avoid that area circled you can have a good time. I will say that its kind of strange the boats there. Some big ass cruisers for such a small body of water lol.

I will be out there tomorrow because its 20 min to the launch ramp from my house and I dont have a whole weekend to dedicate to going to havasu.

I paddle board out there during the week. The shore at the north ramp gets pretty western as well.

During the week, it’s mostly the REI, militant green enviro-hippy types.

I do early mornings on my stand up ski by the north ramp as well. I am usually out of there by 10am so before all the rif raf shows up.

How often do you paddle board out there? I have one as well but no one to go with lol

Used to go 4-5 times a week. Had a hamstring injury that kept me off bikes. Back on bikes so not very much now. I also started Kayak fishing out there.

To be fair we’re talking about this subset of the lake…

True, hopefully the past 2 years of PPP didn’t make captains out of them.

When we were diving with several large groups this guy, getting the kids ready to tube, drifted his boat right top of the divers in about 12’ of water. He was about to start the boat over the divers until I started yelling at him from the beach. I was amazed at how many divers on shore just watched it happen and we’re afraid to step forward. I made him get out of his boat and walk it up shore 100 yards. He had zero clue and would have chewed a couple divers.

Did they have the flag up?

Absolutely wild but not surprised one bit. Diving the spillway is sketchy in the summer.
