Who’s funding it?
Ummmm all us. Lol

Need another bridge. I don’t even know how people that have places on the island deal with that traffic. It’s crazy at times. We were trying to get to the boat at the marina slip a couple years ago for desert storm. Bumper to bumper backed up to the round about. 🤦‍♂️

Managed to get a boat ride across the channel to the dock instead.

That bridge has no traffic 99% of the time. We all need to pay because people can't deal with traffic 10 days per year???

Yes. 😁

The island is like 40% developed the most. With plans to keep
On developing. If the city plans to build out the island, it’ll need another bridge.

Don’t kill the messenger. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Probably. I want to say it was 45 million ish? Seems pretty low to build a bridge these days!

Ok we went to the meeting last night. They have 35.5 mil for the project for the state. The design and engineering frim gave the briefing on the project. Should have basic design and location by june. More meeting between now and then to let us know where it will go. Island side land and az land from Windsor has been acquired. Here is the area for it.

I’m sure the Condo owners on both sides will not be happy when the bridge blocks some of their view. 😛

Agreed. But I’ve always felt we’re one bad scenario away from everyone (here included) screaming “why did they never build a second bridge?”.

Could be a lack of EMS access due to an explosion on the bridge (auto vs boat etc). Failure of utilities through the current bridge.

Not saying anything would happen but like @Tank said when it’s jammed up no one’s getting over in a hurry.

One of the things I have wondered about the animal bridges is, do the predator animals just wait on the other side for their prey? Seems easy pickings to me.

The original bridge was built in the 1830's and brought to Havasu in 1968 and completed in 1971
I don't think anyone imagined 40' boats and freightliner trucks crossing this bridge
Is the infrastructure from 50 years ago good for the long haul?

I didn’t think of that. Valid point.

Same as a herd passing through a valley. They look for the weak. 😉

And I believe they are up to 6 animals crossing in the last 20 years

A $17.5-million wildlife crossing east of Canmore won’t be completed until next year after the contractor’s work did not meet the Alberta government’s design and safety standards.

Construction of the Trans-Canada Highway wildlife overpass near Lac Des Arcs was scheduled to be completed this fall but, according to the province, will now continue into the spring of 2024.

Well not to be DLC Downer

The city kinda sucks! AT these “ deals “

Major hotel coming in and we got a Holiday Inn

Thats Something to get excited about….. NOT !

I feel the city has sold US out on some if these new housing developments …. They want “ ANY BRIDGE “ so they can build more “ NUTS TO BUTTS “ houses on the island ….

No way I would own a home on the island

The infrastructure of the bridge is built to the standards from the timeframe of when it was built IN HAVASU. The London Bridge parts were put on the outside. So, it's not a design from the 1800's.

It’ll happen, there’s been obvious greasing of hands or the state wouldn’t have the 60M set aside already.
Most can bitch all they want about views etc, but as homes have been built it was an obvious necessity as even your home must by code have more than one entrance/exit. As said above if something catastrophic happens on the island it’ll be too late.

Read the 3rd sentence in @185EZ post. He says the infrastructure is from 50 years ago.
