I was thinking about heading to the LA county boat show but with no information on vendors online. I wanted to go by if Howard was there. Anyone have any drops on the show, the “Hall Shows” website is a POS.

Nope not this year. As much as I don't mind wandering around for an hour and cramming a Pinks polish sausage in my face, I'm just not interested in what its turned into.

I agree when my wife told me it was this week she asked if we were going. I asked her is there anything we need for the boat and she said only if I want to do flooring such as dekx, gator, etc. I told her pass maybe in a few more seasons. We opted to take the kids to Knotts this afternoon instead.

I went the last 2 yrs and I spent more time diving there than at the show. $70.00 to Park and tickets for the wife and I and we spent less than a hour there not much there. The boat show at Havasu has a lot more there.

I guess I’ll wait until havasu, I’m confident Howard will be there. I want my wife to see a Howard inside. I need to make sure she has no MAJOR objections to my purchase. I’ve got about a year on the waitlist so not really a rush.

I have an MT LLC I am going to buy it in. Maybe in a year or two move the registration to AZ. At least that is the plan as of now. I don;t see a lot of Howard’s come up for sale, and when the do, they are not the colors I like. If I’m spending a quarter million, I want to get what I want!

I feel like that price isn’t half bad considering everything now days. What I think alot of us forget about when purchasing new is the sales tax. But again I think the toy market is pretty soft for everything. I’ll be curious to see how this next year goes with papa trump back in.

The show was sad empty beyond empty . One of the ladies at the vender said on Friday she thinks they had around 18 people this is what it looked like . This was walking between the first build and the second build that was the complete show.

Two years dang , They need to hire more people to help out .
Wonder how many boat in a years time they can finish - three
I wonder if it’s lack of man power of boats just need x amount of time in the mold so they can only do so many.

When we toured the 6 manufacturers 3 years ago Eliminator had the most impressive facility. It appeared to be the largest with the most staffing. If I had to guess I’d say it is just the price point and how strong the brand is. It was a touch choice as to not going in that direction but the timeline was one factor that pushed us in another direction. That being said I believe it is worth the wait. Just got to get in line enjoy life and next thing that you know you will be called and it is your turn. 👍

I agree eliminators facility is impressive. We dropped by probably 5-6 years ago right when Jake took over to buy some shirts hats for my wife’s brother and grandpa who both own eliminators. It was during their Christmas party Jake took the time to tour me and show me every build going down. They’re 100% a class act really nice people.

As far as I know Jake doesn't own the building they are in. Bob does (or did) and was having them pay rent.

Talking about the business not the building
Well then, Jake can go fuck himself for what he did to Bob. Its unforgivable. I know Jake wont give a shit given their “success” but I’ll never recommend Eliminator to anyone and I won't ever own another one. Eliminator and everything it was and is was Bob’s decades of dedication and sacrifice as his family business. As far as I'm concerned Jake should call themselves “Speedster Boats”, its sacrilegious that he gets to use the Eliminator name.

I know no one else cares but that's my position on them. Carry on.

Wait what happened. I thought Jake and partners bought eliminator after they were being sold by the bank?

If you were impressed with the Eliminator facility in Mira Loma, you must not have visited their short-lived Perris plant off the 215 freeway back in 2008-2009.

Sadly I had not. I had been banished on an island in the Pacific at that time. 😁 Only started the tours when we had planned on putting in a deposit on a new boat. 👍

I don't really know what someone told you... But I believe it to be incorrect. To my knowledge Jake nor anyone else did anything to Bob.

After a decade of planning Bob pulled the trigger on a massive development, right about the time they were finishing it up, the bottom fell out of the economy. Eliminator went insolvent / BK.. The Development was lost, and the boat company was taken over by the BK courts. When I say that I mean literally court appointed controllers etc.

There was at least one year the bank controller was actually at the boat show and talking to people at the CFO / CEO of Eliminator..

At the end when it was time to go belly up the BK courts put it up for sale. Several people looked at purchasing Eliminator. Only one group stepped up to purchase it which was Jakes investor group.

I understand for nostalgic reasons a lot of people thought maybe Bob would come back and run it.. but that's a very easy thing to say when it isn't your money on the line.

Jake has worked his ass off to bring that company out of the mountain of debt that it was in when they purchased it.. and now that they are finally getting out or out of it, we are experiencing another slow down over the last year. It's a tough business to be in for sure, and I don't envy his or anyone else in the west coast scene right now.. Shit is rough out there.

Wait what happened. I thought Jake and partners bought eliminator after they were being sold by the bank?

I'm aware of the perception but the bankruptcy was a total shitshow and Jake and his investors were basically a hostile takeover.

Like I said, what I think is my own opinion based on observation of the events and it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Jake is certainly making something from nothing after everything that went down.

Moving on.

Not really a hostile take over situation.. It had to be sold to pay the creditors?? If Jake didn't buy it, it would've just gone away as the assets would be sold for whatever they could be sold at FMV.

I don’t see how buying it from a bank could be a hostile takeover? At that point bob is out of the picture anyways lol. I think your story source may be incorrect. Considering bob has been at numerous open houses eliminator has hosted? Can’t be that much bad blood. Bob owning the building if it was a hostile takeover could have not renewed the lease if he truly wanted also?? Jake’s a pretty down to earth humble guy I don’t see him as the hostile takeover type?

Considering the business was for sale by the bank, what would your take be if Nordic or one of the other interested parties purchased Eliminator?

Anybody want to buy Hallett from Nordic? Same thing would have happened to eliminator if bought by competition, they would have gotten rid of all the family boats and just built a variety of twin outboard speedsters. No more Eagles, just Speedsters and a single Fun Deck. What bothers me is Jake cut up all the Eagle molds and if he sold some, I don’t know of any.

I think there is 2 floating around from what I hear. But I agree why cut them up were they beyond repair? I guess we will never know.

He didn’t cut up all the eagles, there’s at least 3 still on the property,
Also don’t forget the 19 and 21 Daytona are still offered.

That’s true, but again, is a family of 5 gonna be pulling tubes and skis with 19 or 21 Daytona?

That’s complete bullshit.
Dave’s description above is completely accurate.

Your opinion and and observations. Did they come from your daily involvement with the company during the time period?

I’m not sure how you come to the conclusions you do, but you are mistaken.
And it should matter to everyone else reading here because you are on here mutherfucking Jake and his team that saved the company from being dissolved.

As far as I can see, Jake is owed an apology from you. The shit you are saying is lies.

Point taken👍
There are a couple Eagle molds still there.
All it takes is the right guy to convince him to pull them out.
In the beginning he wasn’t going to build small boats.
@cyclone came along and convinced him to do a 21 Daytona. There has been a string of them built since👍

I was a part of the bankruptcy proceedings so I saw what I saw.

The whole thing could have been handled better than it was. I don't care if you don't like my opinion on it.

I am cleaning up my post, it was a little harsh.

To Gelcoater, RD and everyone else in this thread.

My family has known Bob, his family and Eliminator since the 70's. We've been around for the ups and downs. That's my bias, and it affects my views, perceptions, and opinions of the storm Bob/Eliminator went through.

For those of you who have been around Jake, and heard his side of the story, you have your own bias for the events that transpired.

There is nothing wrong with that. When the shit hits the fan, everyone does what they feel they need to do to get out unscathed or do what's best for themselves and others and will put their actions in the best light.

As I mentioned previously, I was an observer and a participant in the storm that resulted in the transistion. Additionally, I was treated poorly by Jake during and after the transition, for reasons that are his own. However, that resulted in my forming a negative opinion of the man.

I have, and will continue to express my negative opinion of Jake, and Jake alone. I feel this is no different than other threads on this forum about Ultra, the person running the business acted reprehensibly and if he was ok doing that to me, then he may be fine doing that again to someone else.

No one will argue that Eliminator is alive, and thriving. I give kudos to the employees of Eliminator who have, are and continue to build excellence in boating. They are not responsible for Jake's treatment of others. I am happy to see Eliminator building beautiful, fast boats.

Some believe that Jake "saved" Eliminator. I just believe that had Bob come out of the storm holding onto Eliminator, the industry uptick that happened on its own would have resulted in the same outcome of today. Unfortunately no one will ever know.

I wish Eliminator as the company itself, and its employees, all the best.
