Significant debt and apparently their Austrian mfg. facility has been shut down for a while now.

This guy does a good job explaining.

Sales down, high prices, high financing costs, and pissed off owners over denied warranty claims.

BMW might step in.

I'm only surprised this didn't happen sooner.
KTM is almost a culture in Europe, like Harley Is here just different demographic support.

Companies like them have to diversify. Offer other products like the rest of the industry does.

I’ve been riding KTM’s since the 90’s. They are fantastic machines and really moved the bar in the off-road industry with their engineering and technology. It’s such a shame to see them upside down, I hope they can pull through. Previous rumors stated they went in too deep to the mountain bike business after Covid and lost their arse…

I love my 2024 500!

Executives got a taste of real compensation ($$$) duriing the covid sales explosion and thought the gravy train wouldn't slow down.
Inventory sunk them.

I have only owned one KTM. A 1991 540 I raced in a scramble once. Did some desert rides with it also. The smoothest 2 stroke around in my opinion.

I cold siezed that dude twice and lost a bunch of money on that bike. Ended up selling it with the top end in a box. You had to let that thing sit and warm up and I felt pressure because everyone else wanted to leave out and there I am waiting. Not really the bike for me.

My CR500's were nearly bullet proof. Another sack of regret selling them. Loved my very well tuned 1990 or my Alky 1993. Thats what was needed with a C5/C6 Herniation from get-offs.

I still have my Husaberg 470, 550, and 650 in Havasu, all are 2003/2004 vintage. Great bikes and 99% of what the current bikes are like for most riders.
i think you need a 501 to go in your stable !

im looking to sell mine !

My first was a 79 I believe just after they took the Penton name off of them.
. . . and my first one was a ‘73, a 250 Hare Scrambler WITH the Penton name on it. Sad to see this management team running the brand into the ground.

Here as well, probably going to keep the 650 as it has the electric starter and I'm old. ;)
