I'm hoping the weather is like New Years was🙏🙏 75 sunny and just enough breeze to keep the dust moving.👍

The best seats are in front of a TV or computer: https://kingofthehammers.com/live-stream/

Doing things a bit different this year in our camp. As any great story’s starts “we were sitting around eating salads” after several salads and a whole lot of shit talking a couple of the boys in the crew decided that they were gonna back up there dumb ass idea of campaigning an old clapped out SXS to prove a point that you don’t need the new latest and greatest equipment.

This car has been around for a very long time now, and through several iterations. Started life as a glamis rig with an after market turbo and suspension package, God only knows how much money has been spent on this car over the last decade and that number would never be admitted to in (female spouse) company. Several blown engines, the latest one happened on the dyno last month so that’s new now. Every other component replaced and upgraded over the years and again recently, seriously so fucking dumb at this point it’s not even funny, well actually it is because it’s not my money 😂😂😂

They won’t say what they spent this go around between making it race legal and putting all new everything on it I’m guessing they could have bought a new car, outfitted and raced it then sold it after and been “a lot of money ahead”. The shit talking over “salads” in the off season has been immense, we have a pool over how far they are gonna make it, lead mechanic says if they make it more than 12 miles he will pay the entrance fee😂

So here is your under dog local SXS team to keep an eye on, the moniker is Johnson Valley Racing. This is one of the “neighborhood teams” looking to upset the status quo of all new and badass equipment showing up. Yes my friends are stupid, yes they have more money than sense, and yes they eat way to much “salad”

Last development was that there is 52 miles between pits and the car is averaging 60 miles to a tank, but not at race speeds😂 there is some legit strategy going into what “race speed” and where it will be applied is z let’s call this a thinking man’s team. If the strategy is correct and this thing doesn’t let loose this should be a top 15 finisher or better. Seat time is the great equalizer and the boys spend a lot of time out wheeling the other rigs in the JV area so that is a bonus, as well the car is properly prepped at this point and the race support is staffed by a veteran 4400 crew.

I’m not doing anything with the old 4400 car this year, I’ve totally lost interest in the non competitive tourist racing class😂 and would rather spend race day eating ice cream cones, crab legs, and tipping back a few salads and talking shit when appropriate.

My personal junk is all prepped and ready to go, only thing I need to do is put grocery’s in the motorhome and leave.

I'll be at the second annual "King of the Hater's" Jan 31st-Feb 2 at another popular OHV spot that is a ghost town during KOH.

@whiteworks I hope you enjoy watching the childlike dreams of grown men blow across the desert and into the memory bank of poor decision. So much quicker to toss that money into the bonfire at the first inclination of thinking racing anything at KOH is a good idea. Way better to just line up a couple dozen burly men in a line and try and run past while they all kick your ass. Extra points if you put your wife at the end of the line up and give her a large stick to beat on you while she asks over and over if you are happy now. Pro level experience is to follow up with debt collection agency's calling your phone while you try and get off the ground.

Why do a feel like a gang member who found Jesus and has been sentenced to outreach? I think Hookers and Blow might be a better investment.

In all seriousness, if you are going to KOH, save your consumption of salad for camp.

If you want to get the most BANG for your buck, make sure and ask Dave Cole complex questions about the race course during the drivers meeting. That is worth every penny of the price of admission.

I like Ice Cream also.

Pending my spot confirmation at The 40 :)

If I get a spot, I am helping with pits desert and main weekend for a couple independent veteran owned race teams this year. Took last year off.

No spot, then I am out.
I am not parking my new RV in the dust bowl. After a few years of @Deckin Around hosting the group, I felt bad asking again. The charitable organization I was associated with was taken over (one of the co-presidents uses it as his own race team support) and never gave Josh the donation receipts that was discussed :( The president I know started a new group (VETT’s in Motorsports), that I am supporting, but I am not burning another bridge.

On to the important things, the crab leg plate at the tiny pussy or whatever it’s called is off the hook. The spectator experience has come a long ways from shitting in a bucket next to a phone bush to actually having some great vendor food, beverage, and entertainment options. I now choose to be a spectator as much as possible. Come into town and have some crab legs and beverages then slip on the side door into the desert and take the long way home. 😂

Fish taco guy is on point, and the fire truck pizza guys make some good stuff also, but you will need to find them on private property as they got there ticket pulled from BLM for some glamis shenanigans is rumor I heard.

Soft serve ice cream cones in the desert are the best. And when the breeze picks up and blows the dust out of hammertown I will come in for one.

What does a spot at the 40 go for $?

There is some head honcho talk now about closing pistachio rd with a Security checkpoint and a guest list/vehicle passes for the campers at the40, laser town, our place and the other neighbors. I was told DC was going to talk to our pig lady neighbor and offer them passes and KOH swag for the inconvenience. It sounds like a giant nightmare to me, no way I could get all of our guest’s names on a spreadsheet nor do I want to.
KOH/40/lasertown are all using the same security co. and otherwise would have to be handled individually. The 40 and lasertown are getting back gates (NW sides) and security shacks for 24hr in/out to the desert just for the event.

You are always welcome Rob👍🏻 we never set the property up as a business or charged anyone any money so there was no need for the charitable contribution write- off.

No tiny pony this year,🙁 actually I don’t know if anything will be on that parcel (owned by Dave Cole) next to the 40 except maybe VP fuels. I was told the vendors there lost their ass last year.

No music in hammertown this year, one of the main Monster stages will be at the base of chocolate.

I dont think I am going to make it again this year unfortunately, but will be watching all the action from work. GL to all the racers on here, had hoped to run our 11 car but too many family and work obligations and just going to prep for the new Mint course unless they are going to try and rob us little guys with stupid sized entry fees.

I’m gonna say that the crab legs at the tiny pony was the high point of last year for me, maybe I’ll just skip this year and go down to the beach for dinner instead 😂

I’m half tempted to start doing some sort of vending out there, I think a titty bar would be next level on the patch of dirt where the tiny pony was. BLM would shit there pants for sure, but private property is private property 😂😂😂

You need to revamp your high school business card for the lakebed. "For a good time at KOH tonight, call your buddy Mr. White"

cold = yes
dusty = depends. If you camp on the lakebed = yes. If you camp outside of that, it is not that bad

you want a breeze to keep the dust away. No breeze, it sucks.

The tickets are a bit confusing. I'm planning on camping so picking up the camping pass but do I need a $100 general admission ticket too? It says "participant" and then starts mentioning co drivers so I'm guessing not? Just there to watch

You need the camping pass and $100 pass if you plan to camp on the lake bed. If your just out in the desert, before entry gates you dont need it. If you plan to go inside Hammertown to visit you need that entry pass (general admission). Hope this makes sense.
Also, if you next year buy the tix early. Price gradually goes up

Simple Answer = you need both. If you want to enter HammerTown you need general admission

Having everybody sign the waiver and calling you a participant takes a lot of liability off the race promoter from what I understand. Presale Tickets started at $50 then went to 75 and now $100 gets you onto the lake bed for camping and wristband into Hammertown. It’s not really possible to get an RV or trailer through the wash onto the lake bed without paying the money and going over the bridge.

Please don’t try this as @Deckin Around stated.
Last time I stayed on his property in the lower level, my group helped 2 RV’s get unstuck. Both thought they could go around to get to lake bed. Both tried to turn around right at Josh’s property and both dropped to the axle. Lots of digging and 2 trucks required to move them.

There’s a bigger choke point issue now. Through one of my gates and out the other is the only turnaround that won’t get you stuck once past lasertown’s driveway.
Check this pic out looking West over lazertown, and the Forty side of the road. (Drone photo cred @yz450mm )👍🏻👍🏻

So now that lazertown is 80 acres and fully bermed 8-10’ high… and because nobody gave a shit about easements or setbacks… there is solid fence or berm continuous with every property on the block. The only option right now to go play in the desert is to go back around the Forty into the traffic at the main KOH gate or go down the other way across my property. The back gate lasertown is installing for KOH Makes this slightly less annoying . We honored our 30’ utility setback so the last 1/4 mile of pistachio Road is actually mine. Ima install a toll gate across that MF’er👌🏻😁

It is impossible to go north from anywhere along pistachio Road out to the lakebed. Only choices are back to the front gate around the 40 or across my property. We honored our 30’ easement so the last 1/4 mile of pistachio Road is actually my physical property. Ima install a toll gate across that MF’er👌🏻😁

There’s a 1.1mile UTV track and a mini-Moto/pitbike track that one of my partner friends had built and then a little berm track for kids and pit bikes closer to camp. That's the whole reason behind owning the property is for the 10+ kids in our group to have a big safe space to ride. During the day 1 parent can lifeguard the whole area sitting on a pitbike or utv on one of the tabletop jumps.

It looks little from the air but this gives you an idea how wide the UTV track is when it’s not overgrown

I was planning on going again this year, but at the last minute we have had to call it off. My wife ended up not being able to get the whole week off, and she wanted to fly out somewhere and have one of us pick her up, etc...just turned into more work than its worth.

Had a blast last year. Surprisingly we camped right at the entrance to hammer town, right where the intersection is to go to the lake bed, or left into the pits. Right across the road from 4WP etc. In theory it should have been hella dusty but with as much as the water truck runs around right there it wasnt bad at all!

For anyone that hasnt been and is thinking about going, its a blast. Yeah, its different than 10 years ago but its still a ton of fun.
