Why would you say that the SCT drives are crap?It was a Repo. Looked into it before we bought the one you have. The SCT drives are crap also.

I thought they were basically a SCX with a transmission? Why would you say that the SCT drives are crap?

They are similar. The SCT has much larger internals. The gears are probably 50% larger than the SCX.I thought they were basically a SCX with a transmission?

They are not very durable. That is why they went away in favor of the Scx. Talk to a few of the Imco guys. Their wording was something like the gears act like they are made of glass. If they were so good they would still be made. Why would you say that the SCT drives are crap?
Let me clear some things up here. First, the Sc1000 or SCT was the predecessor to the SCX and yes it required a transmission. It was Imco's first real answer to the bravo short comings. I have yet to hear of any problems regarding durability (within reason) with the SCT and I have been working on high performance boats since the mid 90's. I have rebuilt dozens of SCX drives though. The SCT did not sell well because of its price and space constraints due to it requiring a transmission. Because of this, Imco designed the SCX. The SCX and SCT use the same mid section and can be paired with SCX or SC lower units. If a customer has a failure of the SCT upper, they can simply unbolt the SCT and install an SCXT upper in place. The SCXT is basically a SCX with no cone clutch. Based on my real world experience I would conclude that the SCT is a damn good driveThey are not very durable. Agree. Good in the right application. Most drive failures aren't usually the drives fault.Let me clear some things up here. Nobody wants these big older vees…. Weird because it’s really the only thing I’m interested in. lol.
I’ll go look at the one maxed out has for
The mold for the 360 was cut up because it threw several passengers out on test drives with Nick Barron. I guess the bottom design didn’t work.
All of the ones built did have the bottoms fixed after this. The mold for the 360 was cut up because it threw several passengers out on test drives with Nick Barron. I guess the bottom design didn’t work.

Just pulled it up on Instagram.... looks bristol.... this would fit what you shared was your goal of fresh & salt use.... I noticed it hailed from Dana Pt so chin up she's seen salt before ya but bilge looks Havazoo sparkly.... think that trailer is a tube so there is that rust issue in future. My attitude on smaller craft boating is and remains Use em and enjoy! Hope this one works for ya.Nobody wants these big older vees…. Weird because it’s really the only thing I’m interested in. lol.

Was the 360 a Bud Bailey design too?
Wasn't going fast either. Cruising into wishing well. Sweeping turn and pitched them. For the record, Nick was not driving that 360 on the rocks. It was a customers boat, driven by the customer. I'll add that the customer was a very experienced boater. This boat was #1 or #2 out of the mold. Not a friendly design.
Need a buildSame here. Getting ready to flat deck this old ‘85 Scarab. Had some nice cool weather a few days ago so suited up and cut 2000# of deck and helm out.

I agree Dave (obviously). I was considering a 3600 nortech super cat before we bought the current cig but I just love big vee’s too much.Nobody wants these big older vees…. Weird because it’s really the only thing I’m interested in. lol.

That Hallet Ricky has looks really
Nice and those 500EFI motors is an awesome Package. Great motor. Price seems more than reasonable too
yeah, I saw him running around last weekend. It was funny because there were two mostly red 3600's for sale at the same time when that one was up.I know you’ve mentioned in the past you’re a fan of the 3600 SC before. I am leaning more and more towards one. Any suggestions on things to look for or ones to stay away from?
There are only 2 or 3 boats that I did not buy over the years that I really kick myself for not buy, and one of them is the all red 3600 that’s around Havasu still. Preston had it, I looked 3 times and didn’t pull the trigger. Dumb!

I don't have any specific knowledge on what to or not to look for. They're known to be heavy and not as fast as other cats in their class. They do have a porpoise to drive through but what non pod cat doesn't? They're comfy, cool little cabin, stable and predictable. I watched @Bling Bling run his from channel islands harbor to santa barbara in LEGIT 6 foot swell and wind chop a bunch of years ago. Garnered my respect for that boat on the spot. Great boat. Haven't heard of any build issues or things to "look for" just what I mentioned above. Nor-Tech is a solid company and build great boats. Hope you pick one up. Buddy from Chicago just sold his flat deck cig (it's coming to Ca) and put a deposit on a 3600 this week.

40 with 1100's ready for you. You won't even have to cut it open!I agree. The last two weekends sum it up. It's all cats. Seems like nobody wants a big vee and they are being phased out.
But the big vees are my jam. I'm keeping my eye out for a 400. But have been looking online at east coast boats too.
Will an OG 40 ever come back on market?40 with 1100's ready for you. You won't even have to cut it open!

Someone needs to pull a mold off of one of the beat ones. Will an OG 40 ever come back on market?
Yeah for sure they will. I know of a few that just sit. Will an OG 40 ever come back on market?
Wouldn't be profitable. A 24 open bow sure would though.Someone needs to pull a mold off of one of the beat ones.
Just until Saturday morning rolled around. The storm on Fri probably added 10% to every big vee's value.
Exactly.A cat and open bow should never be mentioned in the same sentence lol
That got texted to me. That is waaaaaaaaaaay outta my league.40 with 1100's ready for you. You won't even have to cut it open!
