Just wanting to know who has one on here or has built one. I’m working on my second one my first one was when I was a kid. 20 something years later I got another one. My kids love it. I can’t wait till it cools down a little and we can take the top off. I’ll get some better pics this weekend

I used to work at a shop that specialized in GM trucks. Did a LOT of K5's. I always thought it would be cool to take a 73-87 dash pad, strip the vinyl and padding and paint it whichever way you want cause the dash pad/cover has a metal back that is the exact same shape and the normal padded dash but without the shitty vinyl/plastic.

Had a 76 cheyenne K-5 for years. Loved it, Built 400, suspension work. Used it pre run sometimes. Always wanted a 2 wheel drive like Larry Ragland or Larry Minor. BJ Baldwins is the shizzle now days. Someday after I win the lottery, would build an all wheel drive K-5 prerunner.

I've got an 84 sitting around too that I tinker with from time to time. It will be a slow project as it's not a priority. I pulled everything off and have the tub and frame both stripped clean. Some day, I'll get around to building it back up. 😉

I elected to go with a suburban, I call it my K-8. I also hasnt ran it about 2 years, I think it needs a fuel pump now. I drove it a ton when I first moved to Havasu, everything but the cruise control worked, even the front and rear ac. It will actually get some attention as soon as it cools off, I had to move it the other day and got it to run on parts cleaner, wife was freaking out that she was driving the truck the hood open and me sitting in the engine bay lol

I had always wanted one and finally bought one form a buddy. Then I realized shortly there after I didn't have the know-how, time, patience or money to have someone else, make it the way I wanted. Which would've been LS swap, bag, all new interior, paint. Sold it to a member on here, last I saw it, it was stripped all the way down. Fun, but I enjoy the creature comforts of a newer vehicle lol

I've always wanted a first gen k5. Almost bought several. I could never justify the asking price with the amount of work that needed to be done to make it a decent driver. They are either rusty Swiss cheese or 1980's bubba fuct asking 15k.

There was one in south OC that was all original in frost green with a 4 speed/350/Factrory AC that I should have bought back in 2005. That was my unicorn but I snoozed and lost out.

Sweet, Are you having that done at a shop or doing it yourself?

I've done several street cars but never a full blown offroad build that I really want to hammer the shit out of, so I felt this was better left to pro's so its a shop doing it. The suspension is pretty much all ORD 4 link kits with the kings, their cross over steering, sway bar etc. Trying to stay around 4-5" of lift and we were able to get the 14" of travel in front adn 16" in the back. It has 35's now that will go to 37's later this year....so I'm eventually goign to go glass flared fenders for clearance

I love the K5's, I have had several over the years, this was my last one I sold to the actor Christian Camargo when he was shooting a show for MTV a long time ago.

Here is mine. Built it 30 years ago in my moms driveway. Traded it away when I opened the business 17 years ago and got it back last year. Took it apart in March and it is almost done. Waiting on a few things at the moment.

I had a 73 and an 84. Just like they all say, "I wished I would have kept them".

Just joined the K5 club. Parker area to Havasu in 115 temps and it didn’t skip a beat.
