I am on-call for jury duty the week of June 6th. I already had an extension and now just have to hope that I dont get called. I will have a doctors note with me if I get called in.

If they choose you to go in to be questioned for the jury, when the judge asks you if you can decide impartially, just tell him no. If it involves any type of crime tell the judge as much as you would like to be open-minded, you've already made your own judgement - if a person cannot discern the difference between right and wrong they belong in jail. The lawyer for the defendant will want you off the jury panel.

I was thinking along the same lines but saying, "if he was arrested by the police than I would assume he is guilty"

Just got mine for Mohave County and being retired I wouldnt mind it if it was something of interest. Problem is that probably have to drive to Kingman but hey they give you like $8.75 a day so how could i bitch:grumble:

Be careful nowdays.

I know someone that didn't want to serve on a jury.................he stated that he does not like minorities (hispanic male, drunken driving case) and believes all drunk drivers should be jailed for ten years.

He was immediately ordered by your honor to attend a "diversity training" class within 2 months and report back to jury duty when it was complete.

I sat on a jury. The case took 6 days. I wanted to get out of it but decided to be honest.

I would do it again in a heart beat.

I've never received a jury summons....ever

I just served on a two week trial and at the end of it the Judge wrote us hand written thank you notes. He was telling us how difficult it is to get people to serve and how important a jury is. If the case is interesting I dont mind being on a Jury.

Nope Aerospace and they pay 20 days. The company encourages you to do your civic duty .

My son just got for jury duty called a couple weeks ago.
The defense attorney asked him some question and my son told him that the judge was his professor from his Drugs and Justice class. He asked him what he was studying and he said criminology. He then asked if he had any ties to law enforcement. My son replied that he had an interview with a local PD for an internship after he finished with the courts. The defense attorney told him "goodbye"!

If your self employed or the sole support head of family, or don't get paid by your employer the attorneys don't want you anyway, ive been dismissed after every interview...
The new summons now say on them or not "one day trial" I would do a one day trial, but im way to the right, my Gf just got back from 3 weeks of Jury duty, she was frothing at the bit to tell me, come to find out it was the ACLU defending a pedophile, she wanted to stay on, and she wanted him to fry!!! But then again she works for San Bernardion County with full pay, she was out almost every day by noon. So send those notices you sure you want me on any jury? arty:
