Parker- Closed✅
Johnson Valley Closed ✅

Nothing to see here.

Done it but when you drop out of the canyon I don't think we've ever taken the same route to Pioneer town. You know how we roll, "It's that direction somewhere".😆 Still havent tried to learn how my GPS really works.

Isn’t basically graded dirt road?
No but it's smooth because it's slow and the river of snow melt helps with that every year
It's one of my favorite rides , just plan to be on a relatively slow cruise it's an all day adventure. It's a 10 miles turns into 20+ miles deal with the switch-backs

The Rattlesnake canyon trailhead is easy to find right off the 247. Hang a left and once in the canyon there isn't anywhere to get lost. There is a combo of trails
leading down into rimrock we always head to Pioneer town and Eat there. We just take the main wash Pipes Canyon back across to Giantrock them back to our place.
There are a lot of videos from different offroad groups of the whole trail

We might be out the same time for my birthday May 1 either doing that ride with the family or the mojave trail to the Avi Casino for an overnight

@Deckin Around is it pretty much just a straight shot up rattle snake canyon or do you have to break off to get to big bear how many miles is it from the lake bed that’s where we plan on starting at

One thing to be aware of on the dirt road coming in I think the speed limit is posted 10 miles an hour there is a cattle rancher that lives off that trail and he gets super aggressive if you’re going fast.

Rattlesnake Canyon is a straight shot into big bear.

I don't understand why people say that so please educate me.

In the picture below, The purple line to the right is HWY 247. Green and Yellow marked line is ALL of Rattlesnake canyon down to pioneer town via Viscera Springs Rd at the south end.

There is Burns Canyon which goes up north of baldwin lake area and will get you to the 18. That trailhead is not shown highlighted at the bottom of this map. 2 different trails as far as I know.

Burns_&_Rattlesnake.jpg

EDIT: I looked on google earth and I see the only way back to the 247 as rattlesnake canyon ends going south is Viscera springs rd to Orion Trail through hells Gate pass rd which show as the same as Burns Canyon Rd canyon rd straight into Rimrock. So Rattlesnake canyon runs between the 247 on the North and and Burns Canyon Rd. on the south. Further east, Burns canyon is also USFS rd N2N02 to Baldwin Lake Rd right at the 18

Potentially. If it's a family and kids ride (Mine are 6 and 8) I'd say sure let's make a long weekend and everyone camp out of it at my place.
If it's a big sausage fest or geezer ride, I'm out.

I'd be interested in joining if it's open invite. I have a 2 year old so the days of fast rides are over for until he gets older

I’d be up for a family ride! Used to ride this area a lot on motorcycle but now that we have the RZR kids would love to join! If it’s a weekend deal we’re really interested.

We might be down for this too. Kids ride in a rzr with me (5 and 7) but wife’s not a big fan of riding co-dawg in anything so she usually rides her Crf. It’s plated though, and she can ride. Not sure if a moto messes up the mix.

If the invite is open, please post up dates when you have them. We spend too much time in Stoddard valley and would love to have someone show us something new.

Never been up this way, but very familiar with the rest of Big Bear. Almost all of it is street legal and we run our dualsport bikes only.

Lol that’s awesome! I’m the opposite I’m hoping I get a dual sport again now that the wife can drive the RZR! We’re a family of four (9 and 10) but for now we all ride together in the RZR and the kids ride around camp before or after the RZR rides.

@Boatymcboatface 👍👍

Anytime you want to go out, let me know. I won’t lie, our schedules are hectic, but the desert is our thing.

I spent twenty years on all kinds of bikes, but a medical issue has me in the car now.

We do lots of family camping behind SlashX. Mostly because it’s good for the kids dirt bikes, but we’re always open to something new.

The /X has been like a family to us and we’ve been greatfull they allow us to camp out back, even when the campgrounds been closed for the past few years.

I can’t tell you how many kids (and a few adults) we’ve taught to ride on their back 40 acres.

Is that May 7/8 weekend? I'll be out working on our property that weekend if you're doing a day trip and want a base camp to leave all your rigs secure let me know.

I just confirmed with my wife we'll do a family trip Friday April 29 - Sunday May 1. The ride to pioneer town and back will be Saturday April 30.

@Bpracing1127 @SOCALCRICKETT @Jimmyv @Boatymcboatface or any other members if you're bringing kids it's an open invite just send me a pm. Anyone else you will need to pass my no creepy guy questionnaire

@yz450mm I know you're already in 👊

Plates don't matter on the Rattlesnake canyon, only a spark arrestor and current offroad registration required.

Your fam sounds like us but my wife broke her leg on her dirtbike years ago and only rides around our property now... and doesn't try to clear any sets of doubles. She'll drive our can-am if I can verify the canyon isn't slush or ice at 6000ft and ride my 450. Hope you can make it out April 29 - Sunday May 1

I love Honesty up front! I have told this many times to buddys and they are like, "What do you mean?" Ummmm, just like I said, Im not interested if you are piling 20 guys in to my camp that have to escape their wives and shit their pants all night becuase they got a hall pass. ;)

And I can vouch for @Bpracing1127 , that's how I met him and his family years ago when I invited them into my camp off Stoddard Wells. We have been friends ever since!

We've all been there at some level I've got NO problems with boys trips other than a lack of time and luckily our camp is REAL big lol . It just happens to be my birthday weekend we planned with the family and looking forward to meeting some like-minded families with the same interests.
