Randy where are you? (HB Jet)

SUP RD?

1, So not knowing ANYTHING about adding performance to a jet boat, is there such a thing as adding a device for trimming up?
2. Will it actually help the top end on a boat (too big for a jet) set up, IE: a 23' Commander?
3. NO it's NOT mine! (Well, maybe it used to be)

Now to sit back and wait for the slings and arrow wrought by a forum post.

"Performance" is a relative term. It will most certainly help the boat get up on plane faster. Maybe it might score you a tiny bit of top end improvement. But it will make driving the boat more fun.

Yes a place diverter is available and yes it will more than likely help on the top end. By how much, that is debatable and really depends how much power the boat has. A diverter works the same way trim does on an outboard.

As stated it acts like a trim on an out drive. My boat will actually slow down at full up but pulls the boat out of the water if it's getting thin. It runs it prak mph about a foot or 2 off the water.

That may be debatable. 23' is a pretty big and heavy tub. It may help a little but is one going to notice it by the seat of their pants. Now on a "gullwing" bring it on!!

Mine is no small light weight..lol and it works well.. especially with the midrange porpoise when fully loaded..

We were just talking about the added advantage of quicker planing and adjustable trim for different loads/conditions

So with a 454 and at about 330 h.p. - the 23' Hawk is doing about 50mph but definitely is running very flat on the surface and maybe a bit down and plowing water. Any thoughts on what could be gained speed wise? (In addition to the other gained advantages)

What boat are you running with a jet?

O.K. I'm convinced. Now since I don't want to do it myself by trial and error. Shop recommendations in Havazoo or Norco area? Is the shop off the 15 in Norco still the best for jets?

Maybe 5 mph give or take. More importantly the boat will be running more efficient with the diverter up saving gas and getting a better ride.

Yes GS Marine (15 and Second) is still good for jet boats and can handle this for you.

Carrara 205 Elite. From the "neutral" position to the "sweet spot" I pick up about 5-7mph. From full up you can feel the boat pick up speed every time you hit the down button until you get the roost about a foot or so off the water.

Go straight to the source and have Tim install it. Located in La Mirada.

well theres your problem. get yourself a nice fat girl with some friends and tell em to sit in the front/back depending on how you want the boat to ride.

I smell B.S. or a troll.🤔 There is no freaking way a jet boater doesn't know about a place diverter/jet-o-vator....jet boaters come out of the womb knowing about rooster tails.😂

What's the setup now? Droop, ride plate, impeller, HP, etc?

American Turbine
No ride plate
1993 Commander 22.5 Hawk
No droop snoot
don't know the impeller size.

It makes a HUGE difference in my 23.5 Wreidt Montara. Finding the sweet spot is easy but it will never be fast with the Olds 455 for motivation. It sure makes the rough water ride better though.

Same with the Miller.
It’s definitely noticeable and felt seat of the pants. The boat will lay over if over trimmed.

But that sweet spot is there. Like you said, roost just off the water.
I can trim up and spray water a
Mile high, but it doesn’t make it faster.

To the OP, my boat is only19’.
I can’t say what you’ll see on a 23’ boat, but it’ll definitely do something. Hyd full set up will run you up to a grand $.
I also have a plate, shoe, loader, 2” droop with the hydraulic diverter and a potentiometer I installed for a working trim gauge.
It’s not just for show...that would be a Jetovator.

86 MPH here.

It's a jet boat, but yes a place diverter will help. Kind of like trimming a boat, you'll feel some speed pick up when the diverter is trimmed in the right spot. They will also work to trim down and power through waves. Is it as effective as trim tabs or trim period? Probably not, but it does help.

I have a comparable boat, 21ft Commander open bow, usually at least wife, me, 3 kids and a load of crap. Motor is probably just shy of 400 horse. Berk jet with ride plate, single A impeller, and a place diverter...old school, manual lever. Mine will not throw the LAM roost, just the 3-4 footer when all the way up. The "tunability" seems to help quite a bit though. Ride and turning characteristics can be changed for water conditions. I can gain, or lose, several mile an hour by trimming the thing. Mine is not a light boat, and not real big on power, but it is noticeable.

3 or 4 ft? Hey MW, I just removed my droop snoot and have not run w/o it in a while. I believe the droop took away performance in my situation but it did kick up a crowd pleasing roost....peeps beg for it. FWIW, I have only seen one other jet here in Bama in the past 10 years.

Back t point, I zoomed into your pic and noticed you are running a wedge. I assume 7 degree.......please let me know....and you say 3-4 feet, but your pic say different...LOL

FWIW, here is me and the Mrs, and I curious to know what wedge you are running..... TIA

I have a very heavy 23' jet. The diverter makes a huge difference in a variety of situations. I find it most useful in light to moderate chop as it pushes the nose down and the ride improves dramatically.

Not mine, no wedge or droop. I can't find a pic to save my life though...hear a droop can help though.
