Stumbled across this video where Linda Ronstadt is talking about her hand in forming the Eagles. She lists a bunch of bluegrass guys and then at the 5:00 mark comes in with JD. Seems if it wasn't for the Troubadour bar, music would be much different today.

These, and other artists spawned by the Flying Burrito Brothers, are what fed my musical interests. I'm now at the age where the musicians of my era are starting to drop from old age, as opposed to the ODs of a lot of '60s rockers (the "27 effect")
The more of them that move on to that "We Are The World" concert in the sky, kinda makes me start thinking about my own mortality.

If you read Felder’s book Heaven And Hell: My Life In The Eagles - you won’t really like them or their songs that much. His book was held back from being released because Henley & Frey’s attorneys didn’t like what was being said about them, so a lot of the juicy stuff was left out. Most would agree that The History Of The Eagles documentary was a rebuttal to Felder’s book.
RIP JD Souther - one of the originators of the California sound.
