My HS buddy had a ‘72 with a built turbo L18 at 7/1 compression and had the waste gate set at 30 lbs of boost! has methenal water injection as you might notice to prevent detonation .

The 510’s, 610’s are known for their independent rear suspension. They were king of the autocross back in the day of straight axels.
Yep then you also had the 240, 260 & 280z. I had a 1976 Ford Capri. We use to run Mulholland almost every night.
Mine was yellow. Not the best color for cops. But they weren’t so wound up in the old days either. Can’t blame them nowadays. Getting old, they were the Capri II.I was a big fan of the Capri it was a good looking car. Neighbor of my parents had a cherry black one.
Daves 510 had the L16.Not a fan Eh?

Had one of them when first married to my 1st wife. SS motor and a close ratio 5 speed(1st gear was left and back). My friend Mike will be out there with his 510 wagon.

Daves 510 had the L16.
Steves 610 had the L18.
Steve was just beginning to build the L16 out of his car when he found the L18 already built so Dave bought and finished the rebuild.
It might have been. Actually, you're probably right, Steve thought it would be faster. It’s been a long time dude.. I was thinking Steve’s car was a 2 liter lol
I saw Mike pulling out of a gas station yesterday afternoon, that thing sounds so bad ass with a rotary motor. My friend Mike will be out there with his 510 wagon.

Don't see a Toyota GT 2000 in the pictures. Jay Leno should have been there with his.
Later models, 1969, with 2.3 L were capable 150 MPH. My favourite Datsuns were the 240 models.
My dad went to LA on a business trip in early 1970 and saw an ad for the 240Z in the LA Times. When he got back home to Albuquerque, he called every Datsun dealer in NM and AZ, and found one in St. Johns, AZ.
He paid $2,200 for the car. It had A/C, Ansen wheels, and the optional nerf bars on the front and rear bumpers.
Back then the Sandia Heights subdivision was nothing but paved roads running through the hills at the base of the Sandias. That's where I learned heel and toe driving, the streets were like a road course.
The 150 HP six would push the car to 145 MPH, pretty good for a 1970s stock 2.4L engine.
