Im hearing that theres someone's Bright idea to rename this WTF ?
The term "cockpit" comes from the word "pit" and literally means "a place where a cockfight takes place". In the 1700s, the Royal Navy also used the term to describe a specific area. During World War I, pilots began using the term to describe the cramped operating spaces of their fighter planes. Today, a cockpit is the enclosed space in an aircraft or spacecraft where the pilot controls the vehicle. It's often located in the front of the aircraft and is the command center where pilots ensure passengers reach their destination safely
