It’s official, we’re a 2 boat family now.

Some of you may know been looking for a whaler for our boys. Got a call this morning from AJ. He sends me a link to an 82 17 montauk. Nearly complete restore. New paint, bottom paint, railings, interior, new garmin, new blue tooth stereo, new mercury controls. New gauges, fresh awlgrip interior floor paint. Full cover on a trailer, Etc etc. just no motor. AJ says he has a 90 need at the shop, pick it up and he’ll slap the motor on and button it up.

Call the guy he says he has some other people coming to look today, I say, I’ll be right there. Get there take one look at it and tel the dudes I ain’t even gonna haggle, here’s the cash. Ended up he knows a few people I know. Good dude.

Boat belonged to his pops who died last year. They’d been restoring it but he just had a baby and has no time. He was literally tearing up when we were hooking it up. I said look, plan is to have it on the dock in the harbor when we finish it. You are welcome to come take it out anytime you want. Plus first person I’ll call if we sell it.

Anyway, AJ’s bringing the cigarette out in a couple weeks and will take the whaler back to rig. Gonna be a fun little boat. We plan on fishing with the boys, running out to the islands, hoop net lobster this fall, harbor cruises etc.

Yeah. Pretty excited. I’d been just kinda waiting for the right one to come along and be “right”. Stars aligned on this one. I’ve grown up boating in the ocean but never got into fishing. I’m gonna start with this. Get the boys out there fishing with me and their uncle. AJ wants to head to the islands and fish too. He even mentioned getting dive certified. We’ll see. Hoop nettin for lobster this season though and running around fishing in the fall. Super stoked. Can’t wait. This boat will sit at the dock on the water. Ready to go whenever we are.

Yep, they’re growing up fast. Finn is a butt hair from being the same height as me. Dr said he’ll be 6’2” so he’ll be taller than me soon enough. Beckem is supposed to be taller than his brother.

Some performance boat guys scoff at fishing but I love both and fish offshore in the Gulf of Mexico quite a bit. Cool to boat with a mission other than tying up to the dock at the restaurant/bar sometimes.

AJ has a new 90 merc up on the shelf at the shop. It’s a 2021 but brand new. He’s draggin our cigarette out in a few weeks, then will
Take the whaler back. Rig the whaler there. The guy I bought it from has custom doors being made that I’ll pick up in a week or so so, those need to go on. garmin mounted and wired, stereo wired and go through tighten all screws etc. I’d like to look into installing a T Top and a cooler seat in front of the CC as well. Once it’s dialed in we plan on putting it in a slip in the harbor for quick runs and the boys can wall Down and grab it whenever.
