I bowled league for almost twenty years. Early 90’s until around 2010.
Going through shit and came across my bowling bag, all patched up and shit. It was fun..ish but kind of like golf. It’s fun until you think you’re getting better but you’re not.

Anyway, do I take this with me or is it dust like my CD collection?

Fancy! Finger inserts!

Oh well, I guess when you’re a 300 bowler that’s how you roll!!

😎😎👌👌

I have no idea what ever happened to my Tru-Trac.

There are still leagues in my area. It is pretty niche but I think it always has been.

Bowled oak tree lanes in a league for a few years on my buddy’s team on Monday nights. It’s was a drunk fest usually. Hell of a lot of fun. Then I had kids and that stopped

You bowled a 300 game? Damn!

There’s still leagues at the Bowlero or similar ‘vintage’ type bowling alleys.

I still have my Brunswick ball I got in college from a Kmart. I’m not very good, but will never part with the ball. I say move it to NH.

Ha ha, I remember being in North Olmsted, Ohio as a kid in elementary school when the PBA came to town! My parents used to work at the event because they were in the bowling league at that time.

I remember Earl Anthony being the big deal around the bowling alley:)

My best ever was a 264.
Avg about 170 or so most of the time. Bowled a bunch of leagues growing up and through my 20’s.
After that I became a weekend no tap shark.
I’d hit at least 3-4 tournaments every weekend. Cleaned up!
I had a bunch of no tap 300’s.
Then they banned my tru-trac! 😂

I was in a drinking league that bowled on Wednesday nights awhile back. I took the kids bowling and remembered how much fun I used to have doing it. Kinds thinking about joining another league....

My Mom used to put me in the bowling alley "day care" while she bowled.
My dad would give me and my brother a couple bucks to keep us busy in the game room while he bowled circa 75 or so. 😆

Yes one 300. I still have the ring.

Funny you mention Kmart. One of my first jobs was there. I was 15 and a half. 1979ish. Great job. Met great people there.

I was a reaaly good 'kid' bowler back in the very early 60s. I bowled on TV at Wonderbowl in Anaheim (next door to Dusneyland -- 64 lanes) which had a 1-hour show every Saturday morning. Three matches (juniors, womens and mens) with the winner of each coming back the next week until they lost. The last time I bowled was March 15, 2020 when the bowling alley shut down due to California Covid lock-down. Haven't been back at it since, but I still have a dozen bowling balls ready just in case. You can never have too many bowling balls LOL.

My parents still bowl on a league. Went with them to watch. Bowling Alley was packed. Every lane full. So It is still popular.

Still somewhat popular around here, there are half-a-dozen bowling alleys within 15 minutes of my house. Probably due to the weather half the year. I bowled on leagues when I was a kid and subbed in on a few as an adult. I'd honestly consider doing it again but the season is like 9 months. That is a lot of Thursday nights...LOL.

Still like to take the kids bowling on the weekends, a relatively cheap way to spend an afternoon.

You’re retired now right? And you’re moving to a new state that has long cold winters?
I’d consider taking it just in case you start to go stir crazy.

Not sure if it ever went out but looks like bowling is coming back. A few of my daughters friends are in leagues. Looks like they’re having a blast every week. We went Thursday night in Havasu. It was busier than i expected. Quite a few leagues on the street side, few younger guys practicing with their new gear.

That’s pretty cool. Both will come handy throughout life. I could only get my daughter to play golf. The boys were to Spazzy to practice /play. They just wanted to drive the cart. It’s a huge advantage to play golf in a lot of occupations. It might have been the first or second question on my interview 25yrs ago. 😳

I bowl in a league with my stepson. He is a learning disabled but functioning 40 year old adult. He was never good at athletics and he didn’t have many friends in school but at the bowling alley he is one of the top dogs. 200 plus average, a couple of 300 rings. Everyone likes him and wants him on their team. Me? I was always a good athlete, baseball, motocross off-road racing, waterskiing etc. I completely suck at bowling with a 134 average. I enjoy the hell out of it because even though it’s not physically a challenge, it is a challenge and I’m not anywhere close to mastering it yet.

Me too! Just a few days ago I was reminiscing about going to the Bowling Alley with my Mom around 1970, I was 4 or 5. I remember the coffee shop, the smoke, the sound of the pins, the overhead projectors, cigarette machines, the arcade, the pro shop lol etc... Different times

Wife and i used to bowl multiple leagues. Haven't done so in about 10 years. Used to be pretty good at it. One 300 game and one 800 series. Wife also had a 300 game, only women in that bowling center to ever have a 300. Son still bowls, he's good 220 plus average, 20 plus 300 games,,

Not sure about leagues, but I'll still hit the alleys here and there, great family activity, haven't done it lately since the kids are in to their other weekend sports...
