A shit more time to clean, alot more $$$ to go fast, More challenging to find a spot at Fox's

The plus side:
Chop, swell, wind, speed?

Both sides:
They ALL get hot chicks, so that is a plus on both Sides!

I want to hear the reasons why you prefer a smaller boat (28' and under) or a bigger boat, or both?.

Shit! When did a 28' boat become small! When did a 24' boat become small for that matter lol.

Just last weekend i bought a 27 formula, i went bigger because i needed a cabin and better rough water capability. Im still keeping the vector for now, but having the bigger tub means when my brother comes out there is a place for him to get hos newborn out of the elements

First boat was a 22' Advantage Citation. That was a huge boat compared to my friends' 21 Ultras. We stepped up and built the 25' Citation (open bow, cuddy) with the plan for room of a growing family. Ended up with no kids, but 3 dogs.

I am sure we will downsize again to a 21... 25 is big for Parker.

I like a low freeboard boat, I like the feeling of being close to the water and occasionally getting wet. I think a big comfortable boat would a little boring of a ride, personally. Plus, I like being able to boat on the lower river and would rather have something smaller. I remember talking to a guy on the docks at the Islander years ago, he said his bigger M series DCB was kind of a boring experience compared to his previous F29. I can see his point.

I figured I throw 28' as a limit in the game since my family has a 27' which is big enough, but a perfect family boat for having fun in Parker! Plus it's Perfect for a 'long enough' washin!

small boats are easier to recover off the bottom of the river (both times):p

Went from a 18' to 24' .... Love it... 18' was too small for wife and twin boys, being that we normally had 2 friends of the twins. The bigger boat doesn't take much longer to wash.... You ride in it ... You help wash it.

The storage, sink, and a bit more speed is what we wanted.... Ohh.... And the porta potty was a must... FIRST person to use it.... Gets to clean it at the end of the day.

Ive had my eliminator 207 with 350 mag/alpha since 2002 and it was the size boat i wanted.I like to waterski so big boat wasnt going to do it.I also like that its easier to store at home, can go to lower river with some ease, still can use at havasu although i will slow it down so i dont spill my beer, has done fine at powell and covered alot of water there over the years are my main reasons.

Makes boating affordable for us.If i went with a bigger boat it will be for the ocean and fishing.I dont care about the speed of my boat its a family cruiser.I have been fast enough and quicker than most on water with another smaller boat.

I love my 21 Essex. Roomy, fast, handles well. However I've always wanted a "big boat" and I'm thinking of a 28 Sleekcraft with that half-open mid cuddy deal for the next boat. Hands down the best interior layout IMO. I hope they're as good a boat as they look!

I got my rollbar boat, its probably the 7th boat I have owned in Cali, I am very happy with her because she has comfortable space for the family and lots of friends, it is the biggest boat iv'e owned so far, and don't see getting anything bigger in the near future, other than maybe a 23' roll bar boat for more passenger handling capability, and storage space. I would like a bigger boat, but I don't want the extra cleaning and maintenance issues, plus the issue of having a storage space large enough to keep it. My boat is not fast by any means, like 50 mph tops, but that's fine. if I want to go fast I have a friend that is happy to take me out in his Blown Flat, and even let me drive. my boat seems to ride well in Havasu, as well as being perfect sized for Parker. :D

Hey Andrew, what's next, now that your Schiada has sold? Still looking for a 25 Daytona? Have you seen this one?

As far as the boats go, I guess it just all depends on how large the lake or river that someone boats on is. Because Parker is smaller, narrow & shallow I would be fine with a 21-22ft open bow jet or bravo. But in Havasu, I would prefer a 25-28ft single/bravo. Bigger is safer, more comfortable & will have a better ride quality. I actually love spending hours cleaning & detailing a boat, so that doesn't bother me at all.
Morning bud! I'm going for a 21RC schiada with an outboard! Haha!!

I guess it really depends where you do your boating. Our Stoker 20 is great for running our section of river around Needles. If we have a big group or if the waters crazy rough the toon can't be beat. I think a 27-28' cat is probably the best choice to cover the go fast itch and comfort all in the same boat.

Went from an 18' jet to a 25' toon for family reasons and because you can only do so much with a smaller boat.
Plows through just about anything, a hell of a lot more storage space, and is beyond comfortable.
I'll eventually buy another smaller jet or o/b down the line but for now, the floating living room does everything I need and then some.

Like everyone else is saying depends on where you boat and what kind of boating you like . I have a little outboard mod v that's fun on a lake sometimes but when it gets ruff 30 ft cat is way more fun. I've owned a 35 fountain and run a 36 skater with a buddy in sf bay and nothing compares to running 130 plus in 3 to 4 foot slop. So how fast do you want to get over how big of water is the question?

I started in 14' aluminum fishing boat , went to 18' tri hull , got a 20' open bow ( thought that was big) got a 24', ( nice bigger boat to boat everywhere I went ). Did a 22' pontoon ( to fucking slow ).
Jus bought a 21 schiada and couldn't be happier with the size for where I boat.
Smaller easy to get around and clean etc.

In Parker, IMO a 25' is a big boat. In Havasu, a 25' is where you start to get comfortable. Since our progression is leading us to Havasu, I see a 25 pontoon with good power or a 26 deck with mild power as our next boat. I like to be on the smaller side of things because I hate cleaning them.

It sounds like PR388 needs to move to the river and open a detail shop though...

Started with a 20' then went 21' now have a 23'.

Will keep my current boat for the summer and would like to some day pick up a 25' closed bow for spring and fall boating with some overnighters.

If I ever moved down to a bigger boat, it wouldn't be from pressure from my wife or a need to haul freeloaders. I would do it solely to be more accepted on RiverDaves place. :party2::beer

21' is big to you.

We went to a bigger boat for the kids, and my wife hates rough water. I still have the little boat though.

I used to hate getting stuck in the middle of the lake in a wind storm in the 20' tunnel. It would beat you to death. My wife hated it. It scared the kids.

The 26 is fine in 99% of water we encounter, I've only turned around and headed back once due to wind.

I have a 22' boat and would like a 25' or 26' but with that said going back in smaller coves or like Disneyland in a bigger boat would not be fun or able at all.

I love to see older gentlemen in their bigger boat and how they try to get around in them.

21 ft is perfect for where I boat, which is mostly the lower river (Yuma). It also can handle Powell & Meade, but you just need to be smart about your handling in the bigger water.

I'm pretty happy with my 23 for a variety of reasons. I could possibly see a 25-26 footer down the line at some point, but my boat fits all my needs for the foreseeable future. And it is easy to clean and cheap to maintain and operate.

I just sold a 25 Daytona. Great boat, but it was not able to pull a tube slow enough for a 4 year old and a bit limited on interior room. Taking the season off, but definitely looking for a 28 Deck for next year. More space, about the same performance, and better resale.

27 Hallett closed deck to a 33 Mid Cabin. Hey it's only 6 more feet. Hahaha. Way more work to wash it, but when Mead is throwing 4 ft rollers at you it is def worth it.

This is a great question. Family wants a 28' deck to handle the crew. I went from a 21 Eliminator to the 247 because I wanted a bigger boat for better ride but I didn't want to get too far from the water. I still want that feeling of speed without having to build and feed power for over 100 mph. We keep an 18' Baker outboard for Parker and lower river. So far, sticking with the Ultra for Havasu but the 26' decks are "interesting"!

The 25 is a lot of boat as far as I am concerned. I am 6'4" and cannot even come close to seeing over the side when it is on a trailer and its just over 30' on the trailer. This really sucks because the bay I would like to store it in is 28'. Overall I love the boat but I think I would be happier if I had gone 21 or possibly 23. When I was looking, it is what popped up and fell in my lap. The up side is that the delta can get very rough at times and it handles it like a champion.

No matter what, I will enjoy my time on the water with the family. Its a boat, not a marriage. I will do something different when I am ready.

Put serious thought into this question all week and thought hard about picking up 21ft'r, but I think I'm going with something in the 26 foot range at least until i retire in a couple years and get to enjoy mid week boating in parker.
