I got sucked into a Vevor unit last year after looking for a good used unit. So far that is an ice making SOB! I bought drawstring style bags on Amazon and make 8-10 bags and toss in freezer. When we start to get low I fire it back up! Not having to go get ice every day has been wonderful!

Agreed. It may not be the most cost efficient thing I’ve ever done but it’s $$$$ for big weekends with a bunch of people over.
My brother in-law says it’s the best thing about the house.

I bought a used ice machine (manitowoc) for like 400 bucks from someone on OfferUp.

Stopped working after 3 months.

I’m looking for a replacement. Is vevor any good?

I’m not sure about that actually! We boat virtually ever night. No longer do I swing by gas station for $8 ice, that’s not the big cost. It’s the fkn kids that roll out and want a drink, snacks, and all the other shit that adds up to $25 each day! 🤣

We stock up when beer is on sale now, and the kids load the boat, including dad’s beers, before I get home. It’s probably not break even yet, but after another 2 years I bet it is for me.

Got mine for sams club. Been working great for a couple years. 400lbs a day. Kind of over bought on production. Went with 1/2 ice cube.

I’ve been looking at the Vevor units. I’ve been a little apprehensive due to some negative reviews. It seems people either love them or hate them. I’m not ruling it out yet.

Thanks for your input. 👍🏻

I believe that is the exact model I have. I will say that the storage capacity could be bigger, as it doesn't always break up what it drops, and it will quit making ice prematurely. I would say reality is that its about 30 pounds in the bin most of the time. If I run it over night, I can pull 2 good sized bags out of it when I wake up in the morning.

For those with the Vevor's, is this the model you have?

The key is to have bagged ice in the freezer ready to go!

I keep about 8-10 bags, in 10lb ice bags purchased from Smart & Final, in the freezer and some weekends we can go through that.

When it’s hot in the middle of summer the Ice machine slows down big time.

water temp is 90 + degrees and needs to get to below 32 to freeze.

also empty hopper vrs semi full hopper plays into ice production

That sounds good. It seems like this is a pretty good deal if you harvest the ice and freeze it for future use. I’d imagine if I got three summers of use (maybe less) it would pay for itself.

It’s just an assumption, but I don’t see much life past 3-4 years of summer use on that machine.

That’s exactly what I do. The ice last significantly longer in the cooler after it’s been frozen as well. I don’t regret buying it one bit!

We actually packed ours camping last year, set it up outside the trailer and hooked it up. Our group didn’t buy a bag all week, it was pretty sweet!

Excellent! I'm glad it's working out for you. I can see it being super useful for camping. I'm gonna continue my search a few more days and if nothing pops up, I'll order the Vevor. I appreciate your help!

Hi! I’m based in New Jersey, but if you're open to shipping, Ice Machine Clearance has a variety of certified used commercial ice machines. They offer nationwide delivery, so it might be worth checking out! You can browse their options at icemachineclearance.com. Hope that helps!

My neighbor has a Vevor, it kicks ass for half the price I paid for my Manitowak
