Story says "construction on a NEW high speed rail". What happened to the old one? I don't think they've laid a single stick of rail in 16 years of existing. But this one says they'll be done by 2028, just 4 short years away.
30k+ people a day going from Rancho Cucamonga to LV? Is that a real number?

I'd believe that many a day make the trek, but the reporter claims 30k a day will ride the train. That's over 40 trains a day. figure 20 something each way at 2 hours per trip and no dwell time to onboard and off board passengers, they're going to need to make the days longer to get all those trips in.

It’s a good pilot project for high speed rail. If they can’t make this route work financially or otherwise. None of them will work here in the southwest.

Being in Rancho, the addition traffic this project will potentially bring doest’t thrill me. Probably be good for local economy once up and running though.

It won't be good for the economy. Just like amtrack, metrolink, or any other passenger train service in the US it will be highly subsidized with our tax dollars.

There are a lot of Jobs in the desert between LA and LV. That will fill a bunch of seats.
$50k-$80k vehicles and $5k a year insurance payments will increase foot traffic.

I’m not ruling it out. 😉

Hmm, didn't that piece of shit Governor Newscum say he was running for President in 2028? What a coincidence!

So I have been living In the high desert since 1987. I have been commuting the 15 freeway since 2008. I. That time I have seen many construction projects along the 15 freeway.

4yrs my ass. Zero chance in hell.

The current widening and shoulder upgrade through Hesperia has been going on close to 4years and that’s just a short stretch.

RC to LV in 4yrs. lol.

I would be impressed if they were done in 8yrs.

The other train project has been going on for over 10yrs. It’s no where near halfway done.

If any of these rails make sense the Vegas to LA one makes the most sense. If they offer a rountrip package I can see it doing very well. I'd ride it if I was a SoCal resident and wanted to go on a Vegas weekend trip.

Brightline does Orlando to Miami and that ride is pretty reasonable.

I believe Brightline is also looking at doing a Vegas to Salt Lake in the near future as well.

I’m very curious to how it works. I’d love to work at the international in Vegas but I don’t want to leave Norco.

What’s the advantage to catching a flight from Ontario?

The train will be stopping in Victorville at minimum.

So I believe travel time will be very similar.

Car thiefs will appreciate all the vehicles left at each station. Knowing the owners are days away.
It does SD residents no good. I'm not stopping, parking at a premium price, then jumping on train.
Get to LV, get a uber blah blah.

It should start in temecula, Menifee, Elsinore or that area. Then stop in IE somewhere.

They say it has 2 stops, one in Victorville, the other in Barstow?
Personally, this Vegas train is designed to make that Train to Nowhere Turd in Bakersfield seem plausible.

For a quick 2 day Vegas retreat, you first have to drive to the train station, park, check your luggage and go through some sort of boarding process. Will they have a security check point? Train ride is 2 hours then arriving in Vegas, you'll need to get off the train get your luggage and then make your way (without a car) to wherever you need to go.

Unless the train ticket is super cheap, I think you'll be better off driving your car unless maybe you're forced to do a Fri- Sun trip.

Just another waste of taxpayer dollars from our imbeciles in the Public Sector.

$100 says it doesn’t get done and if it does, that $100 will be worth $10 current day…….thanks to the crooks.

How are they getting through the mountains, tunneling or going around them like the freight trains going through the Cajon Pass? So much for high speed.

Brightline West will connect Southern California and Las Vegas in two hours or almost half the time as driving. The Las Vegas Station will be located near the iconic Las Vegas Strip, on a 110-acre property north of Blue Diamond Road between I-15 and Las Vegas Boulevard. The site provides convenient access to the Harry Reid International Airport, the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium. The station is approximately 80,000 square feet plus parking.

The Victor Valley Station in Apple Valley will be located on a 300-acre parcel southeast of Dale Evans Parkway and the I-15 interchange. The station is intended to offer a future connection to the High Desert Corridor and California High Speed Rail. The Victor Valley Station is approximately 20,000 square feet plus parking.

The Rancho Cucamonga Station will be located on a 5-acre property at the northwest corner of Milliken Avenue and Azusa Court near Ontario International Airport. The station will be co-located with existing multi-modal transportation options including California Metrolink, for seamless connectivity to Downtown Los Angeles and other locations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. The Rancho Cucamonga Station is approximately 80,000 square feet plus parking.

The Hesperia Station will be located within the I-15 median at the I-15/Joshua Street interchange and will function primarily as a local rail service for residents in the High Desert on select southbound morning and northbound evening weekday trains.

I reread all this they should do changeable lanes in the center of the 15. Out wed thru sat and back the other way sun to tues. After I watched the 91 toll roads get done privately I would be the quickest way.

Hmm. So we are not allowed to have a once a year desert race but they can build a high speed rail through there? Did the desert tortoise make a miraculous comeback? What I should ask is who paid off BLM...

When I used to spend a lot of time in NY working, I would take Amtrak from NY to Boston or Washington. So much more convenient than taking a flight and during winter, much more reliable. We would take trains all over Europe for work and they were really great compared to flying or driving.

I have no idea if this ever gets done, but if it does, I bet it would be plenty popular.

It doesnt connect to LA or OC. The people out in Victorville or Rancho that dont drive already take the MegaBus for $10 that drops them off near Caesar's.
It does not connect to LAS or the strip so add the cost of taxi or Uber to that.
It will not hit the claimed 200mph. Center section of 15 will be to narrow in places or curve to much to allow for that speed.
It would also be the last place you want to be when a Raiders game is in Vegas.

It will not happen. It a look at us talkin about building a train. It will be that all the way up to Olympics and Election.

DOGE needs to see who Gavin put as fund managers, BOD's and contractors on this project. I am sure they will tie back to Newscum, Pelosi.

Nobody will drive to RC from anywhere else in LA to catch a train to vegas because they'll come back to their car with smashed windows and/or cats stolen, if the car is even still there after sitting for a weekend.

If I have the patience to drive from the south bay to RC, I've got the patience to drive the rest of the way to vegas.

This is dumb.
