Anyone know of a good crane service around the Chino Hills area? It looks like the Spa Movers aren't going to be able to lift the Spa I bought over the gas meter to get it into the backyard.

Looks about the same gas meter clearance as mine. They tilted the spa on its side and slid it past the meter to get it in the back yard.

Not sure what they charge you to lift a roof top unit but how long do you estimate payback on this thing be doing 3-5 lifts a day?

On the left hand side of the house there is a side gate which opens up about 36 inches. It could open up to about 40 inches with its removal. To the right and 32 inches in front of the gate is a gas meter. The gas meter is 11 inches out from the house and 25 inches high. There is about 108 inches from the ground to the eaves which gives 84 inches of clearance from the gas meter to the lowest point of the eaves (spa is 34 x 87 x 77 inches). The gas meter is 45 inches diagonally from the gate opening. Once the spa is in the backyard it needs to be placed on the far right corner that is up one stair and about sixty feet away from the side entrance. If the spa needs to be lifted over the gas meter, I and a friend would be willing to help lift it.

We are not able to lift spas over Gas Meters, AC Units or Walls. We were hoping there was a chance that we can maneuver the spa through the Gas Meter without going over but unfortunately based on the measurements it does not look like that is a possibility.

They almost all charge a 4 hour minimum. That's how they make up money. The key is to get a guy on the way to or from a job that can quickly bang it out.

There's a handful of crane companies in the northern OC area. Crane Rental Service, Mr Crane, Hydraulic Crane Service etc

Reliable Crane is in corona not far from you at all. Big outfit and good dudes. If it comes down to it I can call them. I know them well.

@HOOTER SLED- works for the gas company. Have him disconnect the gas meter and reinstall when the spa is installed. Lol

I will second The Crane Guys from HBCraig. We have used them a few times and they are good and fairly reasonable. I know a few small 1 man shops, but they are located in the San Fernando Valley and probably wouldn't be the best $$ for the work.

Use Redline if u wanna save some money. All the bigger union companies are gonna charge 4 hr minimum which will be atleast 1k!

Turn off the valve for the meter and disconnect the pipe above the shutoff valve. Disconnect the pipe going into the house. Move entire contraption out of the way to get the spa in/out. Reinstall everything and turn the gas back on at the valve. Easy peezy.

You can remove regulator and meter to the valve just above ground and remove to house. Should give you the room needed.
that way lift spa less then 12in up past single stub pipe and drop it back down.

or if other side of house has wall but better clearance. It would be cheaper to demo wall and rebuild then a crane will cost you

as others have said, remove the meter as MYV instructed, get some 3/4” plywood and build a ramp to clear the gas pipe if necessary and tell those lazy asses to get back to work.

You could always set up some pvc pipe in the dimensions of your length and width and test fit to see if it will fit through without going over the meter.

My jacuzzi is in the farthest corner of my backyard. The delivery/set up guys placed the jacuzzi on its side on a piece of plastic and pulled it to the site. Took less than two minutes. Couldn’t believe it.

After the company said no lifting over gas meters, air conditioners or walls, I went to the neighbor a couple houses away. He said Cal Spas used a crane. WTF...

I live in an HOA... My Spa would be sitting in my driveway for years trying to get that approved. We own all the surrounding property, sidewalks and streets. I am hoping this goes easy in and out with a crane. It looks like I already opened a can of worms going down to the city office today.

Iv remodeled entire backyards/pools over there with no problems
spa gets set on furniture dolly on its side, roll right into the backyard 2 people.

It looks like the wall is separated that's holding the gate, major safey concern of it falling .

Spamovers.com is the compay that said they can't lift over the gas meter. So i called planbspamovers.com lol, but they haven't called back yet.
