I ordered tires for my F150 on Amazon. Something about it feels so utterly wrong. Be even with my back room, best Ford buddy buddy deal over at my local Firestone, the best deal I could get was $320ea for a basic AT 275/70 R18. GT Radials AT3 was under $200ea and free shipping.🤷‍♂️

I did that with my last set of Coopers. Don’t remember the savings though.
Mounted balanced ‘em too.🙃

I bought a front bumper from rustys offroad for my xj jeep. It was $150 dollars more on Amazon. When I saw how much rustys shipping was I went with Amazon and saved a 100 or so. Due to the fast delivery and free shipping. I always check with the direct manufacturer. I do the same when buying tires. Look at tires direct or other online options then go look at a in stock installed price.

Where do you get them mounted and balanced? The tire shops around here break it off in you when you bring your own tires. So much so that it often wipes out most of the savings from mail ordering the tires.

I did the same for my truck in June. Tires on Amazon were $50 per tire cheaper than local. I asked the local if they would match the price and they said no. They did mount and balance them though.

I also forgot to mention. I'm doing a whole bunch of deferred maintenance on the truck at the same time. Amazon beat RockAuto by 15% and saved me $150 in shipping.

RockAuto needs to figure out their shipping situation or at least mark their parts as to what warehouses they are in. $150 and coming from 5 different warehouses is ridiculous and I surely didn't feel like playing musical parts carts trying to get everything coming from one place.

No joke. If you pay attention they raise and lower the prices daily. Then have a flash sale.

Amazon does the same. Multiple reports of items during prime days going up in price and the prime day price was actually higher than the price prior to prime day.

So do airlines - it’s called demand pricing.

My local discount tire will match website pricing, but not Amazon.

Ordered these beadlocks from Amazon, cheapest place I could find, and then got a set of the Toyos in 37's that Duramax offered up so win win. I order so much shit on Amazon it's almost ridiculous! Used to use Ebay but Amazon is so much faster and return policy is great.

I would Never buy tires online. If there is an issue, you're shit outa luck! 😱

As far as Amazon goes...

They deliver to me Constantly. Some of their prices are no different than in a brick and mortar store. So what's the advantage?

Not wasting my gas OR time looking for something on a shelf. Or wearing out MY tires! 😜

Use their CC and save 5 percent automatically.

Using their CC, I get cash back to boot!

I use their CC buying other stuff in other stores, even more cash back to use.

Lots of savings here.

I frequent order stuff from Amazon, use my cash back dollars, and end up getting something for free or at a huge savings. Works for me.

Plus I get to read all their reviews before buying something...

It's like asking for help on here. You just have to sort through the knuckleheads! 😁

I've gotten tires from Walmart and had Walmart mount them. I'd buy them again for a good price from there, but never again on the mounting. Trying to get warrranty work done (basically rotate and balance...) was a nightmare to the point where I filed a complaint with the CA AG's office.

I was buying tires for my F250 on Simpletire for years because they had the best price until this last time and Amazon was cheaper for the same tire not a lot but saved like $16 per tire. I have a town and country near and they mount for 25 each.

When I worked at the dealership, we charged list price for tires plus an alignment.

Most people screamed bloody murder and went somewhere else. Then, they would come back saying "my car pulls to the left now".

So what do we do? First we charge em for that alignment they did want to pay for, and then (if necessary), start swapping tires around! (Yes, a NEW tire can cause a vehicle to pull, so you have to figure out what tire is bad).

So now that the customer has paid More money in labor than he would have just getting everything done at the dealership, AND he has to go back to the tire store and fight with them about it! Yeah, good luck with that! What's your time worth to you???

Trucks normally don't have such issues, but I did get a bad tire from Chris on here and he warrantied it for me with NO ISSUES. 👍🏼

If I did 4 tires and an alignment on your car, you'd get it back driving Perfectly straight and the steering wheel set dead center.

This is why most tire stores don't do alignments and alignment shops don't do tires. It's a lot of work/responsibility to make a vehicle drive like it did the day you bought it.

For $50, ya I would just buy from my local guys. But for $500 savings with a tire brand I know and have used before with good results, yes I have to say it is worth going online for me anyway.

I do all my maintenance including rotations on my vehicles myself, always have. Some repairs I'll farm out if I don't have the time.

I can get it aligned any time I feel like it for $120. Id be paying that on top of the $320ea tires anyway. As far as this truck goes, it's has BFG ATs with 60k on them and are worn evenly across all 4 corners and the truck drives straight at any speed even if passing 50 cars on Rice Rd. No need for an alignment this go around.

I started getting new tires at the dealership. They price match, plus I get the alignment and any other services I might need. Pick up some parts at same time. The Honda dealer even had free BBQ. Sure the tire balance isn’t cheaper than say America’s Tire but I feel I’m saving time and getting better service at the dealership.

I don’t fault the OP for shopping for a deal. Sometimes, it works to chase the deal, be it on Amazon or elsewhere.

They definitely were, in my case there were some complications sounded like getting 37's. I just got mine in the last couple weeks, so 9 months from placing the order. But he came through and got it done.

You saw the option for bigger sizes, right? I'd hate myself too if I ordered small tires.

Oh... wait... that's not what you meant. 😬

😉😁
Glad you found a good price 👍

Wal-mart, if it’s a tire they regularly stock.

Discount tire for everything else. I get the road warranty.

I bought my MT Drag Radials for the Cobra online and they were much cheaper than buying through a tire shop. I have also bought tires for my Harley online and that really pisses off the dealership. The last time I brought them a tire to put on they said they would not do it again if I did not buy through them. Their markups are pretty high.

HAHA!
Bought a full set of Pirelli's for my 99 911 Porsche last year.

Be prepared boys and girls...the more this happens the more the locals in your area are going to charge more to mount them.

Just check the production date when they show up

Production dates matter for tires that have been sitting on a vehicle in the sun and heat.

Not for tires that have been sitting in a warehouse.

They should be used as a proxy for when a used tire was put in use.

China is the world’s largest car market.

You can bet that they are not all buying French-manufactured Michelins, but have plenty of decent quality locally made tires.

So are good alignment techs.

Now days, any greenhorn can put the readings in the "green"

Gee, it still pulls to one side, wanders when it hits a bump, dog-tracks or drives like crap when they load the truck up. Can't figure out why. . . .everything is in the "green"

Not true.

Would you mount up a set with a 0618 date code? Over 5 years old.

Probably not. Received a set from DD that were rock hard. Customer service apologized profusely and couldn't believe anything older than 12 months was shipped. Return and exchange was easy. Only issue I have ever had with them.
