I experienced "Carmageddon" last night in Portland

I usually head home from the "heart" on i84 in the screen shot below..

Closed my store early, trying to get ahead of the idiots and ill prepared ( or trained) drivers.. to no avail!

8 1/2 hours to drive 20mi north to our home in Vancouver WA

The red "-" means the road is closed.. i just took this at just before 10a.. the next morning.

This line did not move for over an hour:

Never saw any law enforcement , no sanding trucks.. it was horrible.

Funny you said that. Tonights news questioned Portlands ( pbot) and Oregons ( odot) response to the " event".. ODOT politely declined comment, pbot said that they were unprepaired .. flat out..even sent some home early to have them come back in the pm.. 10 inches of snow and it came down ALL day..

Damage was done by 5pm.

Same response for the winter storm of '07 & several others. Fail to prepare, declare state of emergency, repeat.

That's what happens after several generations that stayed home from school due to the slightest threat of snow. Now they are adults that stay home from work.
