Still hustling window coverings, the phone rings, I answer and say yes.
Went out to a residential estimate today, the lady has been texting back and forth for a few weeks, rescheduled several times, doesn’t know what she wants, says to bring samples of things.
So I show up today with one sample bag, she starts getting all artsy fartsy with interior designer lingo but not really saying anything of substance.
Two roads to take when this happens, lead them down a path, get them excited about something and close a deal, or play fucking dumb and act uninterested. Today I chose the latter, she’d pull out a sample and ask my opinion and I’d say things like I really don’t have an opinion, it’s your house and you’re gonna have to look at it long after the check clears
At one point I told her I really hate window coverings, I’m perfectly capable of doing whatever you want, doing it better and cheaper than anyone else, but other than the monetary reward at the end I’m not to excited about it
This lady obviously suffers from sever depression, she reminded me of Eeyore the donkey from winne the Pooh. Once I got her started she began telling me that she didn’t care either, that she was in therapy, and hates her profession aswell. I asked he if she wanted me to get her excited about some product and sell her on the idea or if we could just part ways and wish each other well in our miserable lives before the enevitable fade to eternal blackness
One thing I know about this bisiness is you get to pick your customers and that will make you or break you. This one was going to be the type you cannot please, so I was brutally honest with her. She said I was like a breath of fresh air with my honesty and we parted ways.
