Several friends and us are going to Havasu for the Xmas Light Boat Parade and we want to ride the SxS’s to the Desert Bar on one of the days that we are there. Is the turnoff off the 95 well marked or is there a sign? We’ll probably just trailer them to that point. I don’t think we want to ride all the way from Havasu.

I am assuming you are talking about the desert bar in Parker? If so trailer south until castle rock.. or a better description would be the gas station with the big chicken on top. Park behind there and then follow the trail out!

If you want to take the dirt road there is an actual left hand turn lane.. it’s before you get to the stoplight where the 95 meets the old 95.

Cienega Springs Road, has a normal highway sign. Lots of guys park their trailers at the entrance to the road.
This is the way that most get to the Desert Bar. Even street cars and motorcycles. The Chicken place is what I have heard some people call it as the as the back way. We tried it once with family members that were a little hesitant on the path especially where it had a rather small switch back. We ended up turning back and going the Sienna Springs route. I still want to go back to check out the whole path. Hope that you find the path that works for you.

Post up if you still need directions. 👍

Let me know if you want a trail guide for the “back way.” 😎

That's a lot of trailering to ride down 5 miles of dusty road trying to pass cars going a snail's pace.
We've also seen the sheriff a couple times on the first big bend during closing hours.
The back way is a lot more fun and challenging.

Oh man that would be great. The next few weeks are crazy with events. Maybe the end of December.

The turn off is really the only turn off into the Desert on a dirt road between the Springs and the light for Riverside Drive. You can’t miss it. It’s clearly labeled Cienega Springs.

RD was telling you to park next to the gas station with the giant rooster on the sign (River Island Market). That’s where the trail is that goes the back way in. It’s a fun trail, with some great views and a little bit of technical climbing. You pretty much can’t get lost and there are plenty of other people on that trail on the weekends.

Does the back way still have that 1 stop were the trail washed out and shorter wheelbase cars can have issues

Take note the Cienega Springs entrance off the 95, about a 1/2 mile in there is a fork in the road. Stay to your RIGHT. You will go past were shooting takes place and then just enjoy the road as it basically ends at the Desert Bar.

If you go left you will dead end into a mine where there is a small settlement of desert dwellers. You don't want to roar into there.

Honestly I don’t know.. for years people were saying the beginning hill was super sketchy.. looked like a normal easy trail to me?

I have always thought the whole thing was pretty easy

Beginning hill can get beat up, but not that difficult.
Last trip, closer to Desert Bar a section of the trail was washed out. Buddy almost flipped his samurai on it. I had to strap a line to make sure he stayed on 4 wheels. My JKUR made it no issue, only issue for short wheelbase vehicles.

I haven't seen anything like that, but I do remember there was a pretty steep little section at the end near the desert bar.. but if you committed to it it was no drama, going up or down.. freaked a lot of other people out though.. LOL

Last year, there was a section on the side of a hill, where half the trail is washed out. I know I passed over it multiple times, but it’s scary looking as hell, it’s 40’ or more down into a ravine.

I haven’t been back there this year to know if it was fixed. I know Parker 4 Wheelers maintains a lot of those trails.
