Survived the week! 618 miles (per google maps, no speedo/odo currently, as the new transmission is electronic output, and the speedo is cable)

Note the flood warning... ran into quite a few road closures around SC Motorplex. One required turning the cars around on a 2 lane road while towing

Discovered that defrosters are an important thing, and that vacuum operated wipers (original from 1953) dont work when climbing hills! As soon as we figured out why the wipers stopped working, it was hilarious to watch them stop with throttle aplication, and then go crazy when you let off the gas.

Car only had one issue the entire week. The temp switch that triggers the fans failed (while sitting in the staging lanes of course). Pushed out of the way, diagnosed and patched together to work in 5 minutes. The fans are always running now, new part delivers tomorrow.

Now to sleep for about 4 days!

Don't know if they still make them, but I had a 12v heater that plugged into the lighter. Didn't do crap for heat, but if you threw it on the dash it would keep the window clear.

Lots of miles with abuse in between, sounds like the car did really well!

I assumed you were on a count down tree.
So the point is hit 8.800? No dial in adjusting? Need to slow the car down a few thou? Deep stage.
Edit the tree means nothing?🤨

First day, had to pick a dial in time for my class, and chose 8.800 based off of this pass 8.7916 at 78mph View attachment 1448606

No question there is more there, haven't played with timing at all, just been trying to stay consistent with my launch and shifting. No real need to push harder, it's already faster than needed!

It looks like @Bajastu nailed it! What size shirt do you wear, I'll send you something cool.
Sweet! I took into account your specs and applied some real-world experience to see what you would run. I would expect your 1/4-mile times to increase as traction and HP take over.

ET is all that matters. Not necessarily racing the car next to you, no staggered tree, just you and the clock. Still have to make the changes needed to run the exact same ET all week long, across different tracks, huge air quality changes etc. And the 8.800 was my dial, can pick whatever you wanted. Oh yeah, winner was 0.0002 off over 4 days. Top ten were all under 0.010!

That is just the class I ran. There are lots of others available. Tiny Tire is a 235 radial or 26x8.5, winner was 5 teens average for the week. Stick shift requires a h pattern and a man pedal, winner was low 5's again. Tailgates and 28s was a 28x10.5 truck class, and more 5.teens. Daily driver requires Overdrive, exhaust to the rear tires or further, and some other stuff... 3rd was a 5 second car too.

And HUGE thank you to @Malibuvride07 for the navigating, tire swapping, windshield defogging (it's like he didn't want to crash or something?!?), general chaos creating...
You forgot alternator belt installer and fuel swapper 😂..although to be fair it was on the S10.
If you all have a chance to join an event like this you will not be disappointed. It was chaos and fun and well worth the trip.

"Drag and drive" events are all the rage. They usually sound like a adventure. I assume a lot of it is about the people doing it and you can't "understand the point" unless you participate.

Any time you get a group of like minded idiots together, its a good time... hanging out with boat peeps for the weekend is a good time, now stretch that out for a week, hotel parking lot parties, gas stations overwhelmed by the aforementioned idiots, track camping parties, etc and you start to see the draw. Racing of course is important, but the shit talking, bench racing, octane orgy is where the magic lies!

I don’t need to participate to “understand the point”.
Since the original posts made it seem to me like bracket racing, where reaction time is everything, it didn’t make sense that he wasn’t worried about the reaction time.

Since in post 57 He explained the concept, where the challenge is to “zero”your ET, It makes sense.
Hence, my response in post 61, where I described it as rallying where the goal is to zero your checkpoint. The checkpoint is now the finish line.

Are you allowed support vehicles? Like a moho w/ trailer for spare parts etc.? Or do you have to have any/all spare parts contained within the race vehicle and your towed trailer? (I.e. self contained)

Self contained... there are a few people who have family follow in a Winnebago, but they are supposed to be self contained,and the 'Bago is nothing more than a mobile hotel room.

Realistically, most common stuff can be sourced in route, so you carry the exotic one off type stuff. I carried oil and filters, a set of plugs, a clutch setup and hydraulc throwout bearing. Car has had clutch issues in the past, but the current setup seems solid. I also carried fluids (brake, power steering, gear oil, and a gallon of water), both of the old belts frome replacing them a month ago, some wiring stuff, some AN stuff, a couple of spare lug nuts, and a BIG DAMNED ICE CHEST!!! If it broke, sorrows were gonna be drowned!

Makes sense, sounds like a well experienced racers plan.
I carry a bunch of spare parts for my race boat in my enclosed trailer. Up until this last race I didn't typically need much of anything but I sure was able to help out my competitors these last 2 yrs. Now my spare ignition has become handy. The cycles you go thru racing sure keeps shit interesting. Good luck in your racing future, cool little car. This stuff looks cool. Maybe I'll try that next when I'm done with the boat thang.
