I couldn't make it out (work obligations AGAIN) for the regatta earlier this month- Lee thought it would be fun to have the flatty in attendance-- so Charlie grabbed my hot rod and splashed around Saturday/Sunday in it--- from the pics & commentary published about the weekend it seemed as though a good time was enjoyed by all :D

thanks for the nice compliments, guys

this boat was ordered/started in 1959 - features a 1959 pontiac 389 tripower motor. it must have been commissioned/delivered the following year because the boat is titled/registered as a 1960 schiada.

according to lee "the hull is the 2nd glass hull that schiada built"

My dad had a 59 schiada all wood with a 392 chrysler . That boat looks like they pulled a mold off the wood boat it so close its scary also I have never seen another schiada that looked like ours . By looking at your pictures I can tell exactly what changes where maid and its not many mainly the deck ours had a dropped hand rail.... :D

hi afuel7067-

lee believes that the 1st glass (hull) schiada was built in 1959 by mr schiada as his personal boat-- 17'9" length patterned after the (now) iconic wooden hull schiada designs

this "hot rod" was (is according to lee, mr spindler & charlie) the 2nd glass (hull) boat- started in 1959-- built by mr schiada for fellow named lloyd tanner--- mr tanner spec'd his flatty with a wood deck/transom & the '59 pontiac 389 tripower engine--- set up as a ski boat

Rudder My pictures are to faded to post but no doubt they are of the same lineage if I ever see you I will show them to you ... Ours was set up as a race boat a very early purpose built ski race boat .It did have small jump seats behind the center deck that were removed for racing . It eneded up with a 427 ford and I practiced behind it long after it was retired to river life...
