I don't see where they said that. They are supposed to be events at both places.

Last show in just Reno. Next year it will be in both Reno and Long Beach and the next year, just Long Beach.

Yeah, the article I read originally that talked about it said it. Might have been a rumored that was leaked and they are trying to squash it now or something. I read the article about 2 months ago so..... I dunno if something changed since then. They also said it was getting too cost prohibitive in Reno since the event has flowed over into Sparks as well. Because of that they said they had to pay fees for BOTH cities and the county and all that. I need to find that article and see who they were quoting in it.

So it wasnt that long ago that I read it. But... WOW that CEO is all over the map on what's going on! Im thinking he's just trying to make sure this year goes well by saying its going to remain in Reno. Who knows though.

Thats the article I read. You'll see its the same guy they quote in both articles.

Overall it may be pressure on the politicians and local businesses to cooperate more and give up the fees.

In this economy it has to be a huge shot to the finances to Reno.

Long Beach would love to take over the event.
They are real receptive to this kinda dealio.

I don't think Reno will give it up without a fight, and, if the "official" HAN does find a way to leave, don't be surprised if the resorts and gaming people in Reno don't find a way to start something back up. Reno/Tahoe will draw more folks from the north than Long Beach will. HAN knows that, so I don't see them walking away from Reno entirely.
Of course, HAN did manage to drive the real Reno Swap meet folks away, hell the Reno Swap Meet is now held at ARCO Arena in Sacramento...and it is thriving, I might add.
So who knows.
I was born in LBC, and would never consider it a great vacation destination for a weekend of classic hot rod appreciation, cruising, gambling and eating, but that is just me.

Move it to the OC fairgrounds in Costa Mesa and you'd have a gold pot.

My uncle's buddy's trailering a 58 plymouth up, all orginal, except for the 392 Hemi! Dark maroon color.

I drove down to nevada from seattle to do an inspection on a bell 212 helo in Susanville. I asked the wife if she wanted to go, as she has never been to reno or vegas.

So we drive into Reno yesterday and actually get a room. Silver Legacy. They said this year they have not been booked in advance as previous years for Hot August nights. A few rides out about.

I will be hanging around today and heading out this afternoon.
