Got a new to me daily driver, 2011 CTS-V about 4 weeks ago and noticed the SC has a rattle at idle and when you shut it down. GM had realized they had a problem with these LSA Eaton SC's so they extended the warranty to 10 years or 120K miles. This one was replaced in Nov 2012 when it had 29k miles on it but they replaced it with the same PN that had the failures as the SB for the new units didn't release until May 2014 . Basically there were bearing failures that were caused by the faulty spring loaded isolator that were installed on 2009-2013 CTS-V's and 2012-2013 Camaro ZL1. In place of having dealers technicians repair the SC they elected just to replace it with the new style solid isolator units. In any event I have an appointment for Friday morning at my local dealer to see if I can get it replace under warranty as it was put into service in Oct of 2010 and has 92K miles on it. Wish me luck!

You would think that would be a easy call to be replaced. If the dealership says no....I would request that the dealership writes corporate GM with a replacement request....you request a copy of that letter....this will let GM corporate make the decision...you will want a copy of the GM reply. Just going to a service manager, you could get a no because they do not want to deal with it. Think of it as getting a pre-approval from the people who pay for the repair.

Yeah even though it is pretty much there in black & white I'm prepared for some push back on this. I do know of one other person that had their 2010 replaced just last year and he had just over 100k on the clock. I'll see how the dealer mode is on Friday when I drop it off...

Don’t go to Mark Christopher in Ontario. They suck so bad. I gave them a terrible review on their Facebook site that they actually took it down and exactly one year from the posting they now want to reach out and want to discuss the issues. Forget them and their piss poor customer service.

Good luck and hopefully you don't have any issues getting it repaired.

If they don’t want to replace it, you can buy an aftermarket coupler and swap it out.

If you need it, I have a full supercharger in my garage, minus the lid.

Yeah plan "B" is to just replace the coupling myself with a solid one. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

WTF
Well here's my approach at this, if it gets approved, which it should, and they have to order it I'll just get the car back until it arrives then drop it back off for the swap.

They have no say in buy backs. What do they keep telling her?

the issue I see is you are not the original owner, that might make a difference

The extended warranty on the supercharger does not matter who is the owner, just like the original warranty of the car.

Well dropped it off at 8:30 this morning and they just called me and told me that they are going to replace the SC and it will be ready to pickup on Monday afternoon. Looks like I found the right dealer.
Ask them for your old parts (supercharger) back.....I will buy it from you.

Yeah it looked like a rather straight forward proceedure but thought to roll the dice at the dealer which worked out well for me.

Doubt they give me the old one back but it doesn't hurt to ask on Monday when I pick it up. The market was flooded with used ones back in 2014 when they were getting replaced. Remember seeing them on ebay for like $600-800 but used ones are back up there in price now. I'll let you know the outcome.

Congrats. You never know with dealers. I’ve had stuff go both ways. I actually had good luck with Mark Christopher. They did my SC and rear end with no problems. Didn’t even flinch.
Miss my V every morning. Nothing like cool air in that car. Car people know what a V is. Most don’t and seem a little shocked when you walk by.

They looked at me in disbelief when I asked the service advisor for the old one back. Service manager comes out and explains to me that warranty parts are non returnable to the customer...bet the technician kept it...
Sorry @Bigbore500r

Good to hear that you at least got the replacement for free even though you didn’t get to take the stock unit back. LOL

Sorry @Bigbore500r
They will have to keep it (SC) for 60 days, and then if it is not called back, they can scrap it. If it is called back, and the dealer doesn't have it, they will be charged back the complete repair order, parts and labor.
