Showed up on my Insta feed this morning, did a search here and nothing. Anyone have them or use them? Would be great where we boat if they actually work. For those unfamiliar, it's a suction cup based tie bar that attaches to the hulls of 2 boats to keep them from bumping or rubbing.

At first glance...

Those look like the handles the windshield replacement guys use. I've never seen one come off!

Although, they only use em for a minute or so...

I saw these on IG as well and actually saw a girl standing on one of them. Funny because a good friend of mine just sent me a link about them also.

My response to him- unless the technology has changed, they suck balls (not this company specifically) I had a set of these back in the day- like late 90's. They were $300 for 2 and they never held. The suction cups would always come loose and you would break away from the boat you were tied up to.

I actually lost one of them when both suction cups lost suction while floating in a quiet smooth cove and it sank like a boat anchor to the bottom of the lake.

Great concept if they work and hopefully this new company has it figured out.

They look like they would work great in a mellow cove. I’d be apprehensive in rougher water. Two rigid poles could get interesting

Might have been RD who brought them up a while back(manufacturer trailer ad) and the general consensus amongst the inmates was clear....good for a flat, no wake area but expected failure at the normal Havasu type raft up where we get plenty of sizable wakes. If I recall correctly too, even the manufacturer didn't recommend in areas susceptible to wakes.

When I had a ski boat i made a wakeshaper (45 degree wedge that drags off the side of the boat) for surfing that was held on by one of those suction cups. I only had it come off once in miles and miles of surfing. As long as they swivel and you get them on good id never worry about it coming off, they’re just expensive for an inexpensive item you could probably make in the garage

They don’t work because in rougher water when one boat comes up and the other down the distance closes to zero.

The other problem is back and forth pops the suction cups.

I had an inmate bring me a prototype of something similar a few years back and had the same conversations with him..

A Fender works because the distance remains the same between the boats when they move..

Seems like a great concept and could be made to work but would need to use a spherical bearing on either end. The push pin style would be great but than both boats would have to have the pin mounts as well similar distance.

If the objective is to avoid cleats, would a suction cup fender hanger work with a bungee instead of line? Not sure if it would get torn off or not.
