Has anyone else been seeing the leaked photos of the new Honda SxS that is going to be released later this afternoon?

I'm excited to see what Big Red and their R&D department can bring to the table. Rumor mill is talking about a VTec powerplant and a DCT transmission.

Honda has the resources, both technology and money to almost instantly become the big dog in the field. It is all about if they see the ROI on doing it. I am actually kind of surprised that they have not made a power move in the field before.

I agree that it is surprising that they haven't already done this especially with their history in this world. You could argue that Genesis of the SxS industry goes back to the Odyssey and the Pilot.

OK, so saw it, read the specs, what part of this rig is going cause it to take over the SxS market ? Just because it's a Honda ?

I don't think it will. They missed the Mark on this by not designing a 4seater to compete with the other big two. It looks great, the cult "ride red" following will always be there, but I see the talon going down the same road the Yamaha YXZ did.... Forgotten.

Couldn't do the four seater it needed to be lite enough for the Ridgeline to tow it.

I've had great luck with Honda products over the years, but I don't bleed Honda Red. A 4 seater doesn't interest me, not where we ride. But I was hoping to see something that looked better, kinda blah and otherwise nothing revolutionary that I'm reading in the specs. In fact the gas tank is rather small. I can't find any engine specs other than 999CC, I did see they're making a 49 and 50 state model in addition to the two widths. Not sure what makes the 50 state different, not that I care, I'd buy in AZ anyway. Never driven a Yamaha so not sure how the DCT compares with the CVT in terms of on-demand torque or longevity.
So for now I just see it as one more player in the mix. Should be interesting to see how well it's accepted.

A conservative effort, yielding conservative results. Honda.

I dont think they missed the mark really at all. Looks like it would work well for 75% of the SxS buyers. I think what will make it or break it will be the price point. If they come in on that Talon R under the NA RZR and Can-am, I think they have a sales winner. Not everybody can or wants to throw $25k+ on a 2 person toy.

Motor and tranny looks great. Automatic with option to shift.

Cage looks like its not enough also

Its just kinda blah.

I like it. I like the drive train.
Since I haven't kept up with Honda, is the DCT trans unique to this SXS or used in another vehicle ? I wish they'd divulge a bit more info, like HP and Price for two

It sounds like it is not belt driven. A six speed transmission with paddle shifters or auto mode.

Yep. Agreed. Honda has ALOT to prove and ALOT of catching up to do if these are their "flagship" sport SxS's.

It looks like a RZR & YXZ had a love child, lol. :D

With 104hp & 1500# this thing is going to be way down the food chain for most people looking for a Sport SxS. Honda’s only hope to sell these is that they are priced below their competition, otherwise I don’t see a big demand other than Honda Fans.

I’m happy to see more companies getting into the market. I’m especially happy to see another option without the CVT Transmission! It should help drive prices down. I just can’t justify paying $30K+ for a 2 cylinder toy that will be worth $10K in a few years.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I love it!! The Auto trans with the paddles, and the fact that it's a Honda have me pretty sold! Hopefully it's in the 20 thousand range instead of the 30!

RD

I would say it needs to be less than 20k OTD to even be in the conversation.

I dont think Honda is marketing it to folks that want the weekend checkered flag.
If you want a fun machine with a degree more reliability and build quality then it seems to fit the bill.

Personally, if I have something capable that allows me to just go ride, its of more value than having to dick around with something that performs a little better.

Yea.. It will be around the Yamaha price.

The DCT deal scares me.

Agreed on the dash setup. I think Yamaha has the best dash/gauge cluster. Even though it doesn't have pretty screens, it seems to be the most functional.

It's not even in production yet and the valves already need to be adjusted.
Every fucking performance Honda I’ve owned always needed the valves adjusted.
Especially the wife’s S2000

It’ll have to be low 20’s.
The Fit and finish on the Yamaha YXZ is setting a new high standard and they can be had in the low 20’s. Hopefully the Honda is as good.
