Home Made Ice Cream

Have not had any for years so I bought an ice cream maker and got after it today. My wife has never had home made ice cream but that's about to change. I had a little helper who was really into the whole process and that made it pretty fun. Decided to make some peach ice cream, its hardening right now but we sampled it as soon as it was done mixing, really good. Gonna have one happy little girl when she wakes up from her nap

So whos got some good recipes?

The last time I had that stuff was in the 80's. I remember it was good, that's about it.

I don't have the recipe any longer but we used to make bourbon pecan. It was the bomb and even the kids loved it. Be careful, ice cream makers are like bread machines -- you will get addicted to the product.

I actually have a Donvier ice cream maker. They are easy and fast, and no waiting to harden it up after you make it. It's not a constant churning type thing either, so your daughter could do most of the work.

4 eggs, beat till fluffy

2 1/2 cups sugar

6 cups of milk

2 cans evaperated milk

1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla

a "pinch" of salt

2 cups, creamy smooth peanut butter

We took the HOMEWRECKER 99-F to Parker for a vacation between races, in late 1965. While there we made ice cream. It was late summer, 105* +. We made hand crank ice cream. When the ice cream was done, the other campers on the beach came with their cups and spoons. That was almost as much fun as setting the UBGH drag race record. After we finished the ice cream I got in the HOMEWRECKER 99-F. My partners followed me in their ski boats and cameras. I went up stream making laps around the photo boats.

I was a kid and the church I was going to had a father/son ice cream social. Dad and I were both...not cooks. We went through the directions, made the batter...and accidentally doubled the sugar. We didn't think we'd be able to pull off a flavor, so just went with vanilla.

At the Church apparently all the dads and sons weren't cooks...all vanilla, 17 gallons. A few brought caramel/chocolate/strawberry toppings.

The funny thing was, even though they were all vanilla, everyone dutifully tasted each vanilla ice cream. Dad thought the doubled sugar would ruin the ice cream, but ours was much better that the others and the other families couldn't figure out why.

We had the hand cranked stuff at my wifes grama's one year. I think i maybe got one bite, it disapeared instantly!!

Ha. I just made some for the kids. Made some Vanilla. When it was finished I poked holes in to the ice cream and poured Orange Crush in to it and put the tub in the Freezer.

Kids thought I was crazy.

I just made cheese cake ice cream last weekend with my daughter. My grandmother used to make it all the time when I was a kid. She had an awesome banana recipe and a peaches and cream recipe!

Great...mow I have fricken ice cream on the mind....the last time we made it was about 20 yrs ago camping out on the beach in Baja...made some "special" brownies, two batches of home made vanilla, holy shit......
