I'm headed down to KOH this morning and checked CalTrans for road conditions. This is what they are showing for highway 395 as of this morning:

"A high wind advisory is in effect from the San Bernardino/Kern Co Line to the Kern/Inyo Co Line - Travel is not recommended for campers, trailers, or permit loads

A high wind advisory is in effect from Pearsonville to Lone Pine (Inyo Co) - Travel is not recommended for campers, trailers, or permit loads"

I checked weather report for Lone Pine and it is showing sunny with 15 MPH winds. This is what I'm driving. Duramax and 20 foot trailer with SxS in it. The SxS weighs about 1500 pounds plus I have a bunch of fire wood, a couple 5 gal fuel jugs, two 5 gal water jugs, and camping stuff in there.

Not sure if I should risk it as it says " Travel is not recommended for campers, trailers, or permit loads". You think it will be okay and CalTrans is just being overly cautious? The alternative is to go down highway 95 on NV side all the way to Death Valley and cut down to Baker but that is an extra 150 miles. Plus, it could be windy that route too as it usually is. I will be taking 95 through Hawthorne and then highway 6 to Bishop because of heavy snow in Mammouth area.

My wife just drove from Redondo Beach to Topaz Lake yesterday. There were weather advisories, and snow for June lake, with wind etc.......... High winds in Bishop etc...

She drove my truck instead of her car, just incase since it's 4wd. She didn't hit one single drop of rain, or wind, and saw like one cloud in the sky.

I say run it, and if it gets hairy, pull over. I have a feeling you're gonna be fine.

Personally, based on those conditions, I wouldn't hesitate and would make the trip with little concern. I used to live off 15 just below Cajon Pass and constant wind advisories. I would just drive slower until conditions improved. Your trailer is pretty low profile and that is a solid tow vehicle. I would maintain a reasonable speed and if you start to feel the wind push you around beyond what's comfortable, you could always pull over for an hour or so and see if it subsides. High speed and big gusts is what will get you in trouble. Maintain a safe speed and you will be fine.

The problem usually is tall empty or lightly loaded vehicles. I have been using a weather app. my Radar it can show rain and wind. Here is what the current picture is of Nevada.
