Was watching the breach of dudes apartment in Colorado this morning on news channels and not sure if you already commented/critiqued on it here. I'm sure you've done quite a few similar, any as intense?

Yes Sir,

Our LA FBI SABT's (FBI Bomb Tech's),are keeping us informed on current issues they are encountering.

It's mostly flammable, but in large quantities which makes it the concern, plus they want to keep the devices intact as much as possible for court purposes.

I've said it before, as much as the media says this stuff is very dangerous, it's all out there on the net to make. Just takes someone with stones to actually build the stuff.

One thing we have they don't is BAT CAT, a lot easier platform to get at upper level threats than a fire ladder:thumbsup

We put our basket on this and can deliver our ANDROS or Point man robot, or up to 5 bomb techs up to 5 stories high.

Might be Passive Infa Red, which carries it's own issues as to over coming the detection to safely disarm the charge, we'll see....

And I thought standing 2 feet from an 80,000 pound big rig doing 60 MPH down the freeway was intimidating.

The device the tech's are using in the photo is a Hydra Jet, which is water pushed by either C2 or C4 to disarm a device's ignition system at the speed of around 22,000 feet per second, thus eliminating the chance the "explosive train" can ignite and the device can function as designed.

Surprisingly, this method will leave most of the components of the device around to be reconstructed for the trial.

It's just another job, a little different than most, but a job none the less.

LOL/ You're going to laugh,

I am right there with YOU on the freeways,

My family runs an asphalt grinding biz. We just finished a 3 week job for PAVEX on the 8 in Cupertino. I was on the 405 a lot of nights the last few months on the widening project for Kiewitt.

I know your dangers and respect them, the freeway is a very dangerous place most know nothing about. I'm lucky to be in a Cat 272 C when I'm out there or on top of one of our Wirtgen 2100's. Still very dangerous.

We did the 10 fwy. around Chiraco Summit last year for Cal trans and are bidding on the 91 fwy widening project with Kiewitt when it comes up next year.

Nice!
20,25 thousand pounds of steel between you and whatever can give you a sense of security.

Shit the wirtgen we have is probably 20 years old. Still works great but it only has a 52" drum, quite a bit slower grinding but what do you expect, low bid. Kind of nice when we get the contractor grinders, 2 passes and done!

Hey Lowriver...........when the hell do you sleep????????

When the jobs are done, hah, My 4th of July excitement was moving machines and picking up a new 4 footer/lol.

I have a 2yr. old and a 3 month old, sleep's overrated:p

Sorry to see 2 highway workers were killed on the 405 last night at Artesia, third injured, DUI involved, it never ends sadly.

Napa,

We have a 99 2100 with 6'4" drum and a 2010 2100 with 7'2" drum,
2 120's with 4' drums,
We like the Wirtgens over the Roadtecs and Cats, just better built and handle city streets, cul de sacs easier. Here'r our 99' 2100 in action:D

No, probably Granite or Security Paving in that area.

We did the 10 (26 miles) east of Chiraco Grade last year, no complaints I'm aware of yet.

We have been on the 405 widening project nightly, mostly on Sepulveda Blvd. the last 2 years making trench plates for moving utilities. I heard the latest is we'll be up on the freeway early next year, for now/lol.

We do a lot of Calt Trans emergency spot work along the 5 from O.C. up through Santa Clarita.
