if you want to kick this one up a bit

I do a similar mix, but also toss in 1/2c of ground pork sausage in there.

you know, throwing some smoke on those would complete the package

curious what the cornstarch is doing in this

i know a lot of pros use high melt cheddar to keep things tighter, i wonder if this is essentially doing the same thing. I know when i've gone heavy on the cheddar (i usually just use the Staters brand sharp and grate myself) it can get a little sloppy once the oils start separating

Thicker I would guess? I used the whipped cream cheese. The regular stuff would be a bitch to mix!

haha yea, i've done both. I'm not against the whipped, but its just usually more money

but i digress and will go be poor elsewhere

Yeah it is, but it's Good.

The key to that is right there on the recipe.
Softened.
Meaning let it sit out a bit before you construct😉
