What a 2 weeks "off" this was. Drove home to CA, flew straight to Alaska to see my Dad. 2nd round of Chemo for prostate. Diagnosed 12 years ago so he is one tough bastard. Everyone there pretending he isn't dying. THAT was a pleasant week, let me tell you. At least Debbie got to see my old stomping grounds.
Got back home and did 3 days straight of ranch work. Then went on "strike" and took the Hydro to Shasta.

It actually started and I idled out past the no wake zone.

I very quickly learned a few things. When punching the throttle, MAKE SURE the wheel is straight!! That SOB went from 30 MPH to "Blurry" in a matter of seconds! I have no idea how fast I went, but I know my other boats do 70 and faster. Tell you what, they may as well be standing still. This thing just flat laughs at anything under 95 or so!

I saw a wake in front of me and my heart stopped, my ass clenched the seat in a manner that would make Brown proud as I braced for the wreck. It just sliced through the wake with out even a bounce.
I put Deb in the passenger seat and we found some glassy water down the Pitt arm. Let 'er rip. FFOOOOCKKK !!
The tattle tale said 6600 RPM afterward. It had PLENTY left. She said afterward that she was not scared one time. I was shocked at how smooth the boat rides. As long as you DO NOT punch it while turning.
I have a lot to learn about turning it, but straight line, WOW, what a rush!!! :D:D

Possibly the biggest surprise was how FAST 10 gallons of 110 octane "purple" went away. I'd say about 15-20 minutes?
That was a real jaw dropper.

Sorry about your Dad Tommy. My Dad has constant health issues so I know the feeling there.

Sounds like you had some fun with that Hydro finally. :D Good for you.

Thanks, it is nothing new for us, and he is so damned mean it is just a nuisance to him it seems. At least I have time and lots of chances to tell him I would not have changed a thing. He made Me do everything for myself, and I wouldn't be a fraction of the person I am if he had been at all easy on me.

Anyway, that boat is a total BLAST!! It comes on like a freaking monster. Kind of like when a HUGE 2 stroke hits the pipe. Or a bad ass street bike when it hits the power band. Just insane acceleration to me at least!
You really have to be careful because it overtakes other boats like they are literally standing still.
I have no doubt that some are laughing right now because there are a lot of boats out there that do the same, but it is new to me and it seems to me like a freaking rocket!! :beer:beer

The Miller does exactly 70, no matter what. The flatty goes a lot faster, and is much "twitchier". But this thing is a whole different ball game. :D

Sorry to read about your dad. I know exactly what you mean with regard to everyone pretending there's nothing wrong.

I'm glad to hear the boat ran bitchen!! I'd say your wrong on others laughing and lots of boats doing the same.. Not too many boats out on the water of any kind that'll pull like that Hydro will!

I am going to pull the valve covers, run the valves, and see what is there. It does not have a stud girdle, so that will be a must in my book.
Also, the seller has the fuel pressure set to 13 psi. at idle. That seems quite high to me. I run my 660's at 7 psi on the miller with good results.
Do dominators really require that much psi? I don't know what type of needle and seats are in them. Can't see the gauge while driving as it is behind the motor on the fuel log.

Glad you had fun in the new boat.

Haven't gotten my hydro in yet. Was running last week, imploded the brand new starter, need a new impeller, fuel leaks, water leaks, having a hard time timing it with the zoomies, throttle linkage adjustments...
I'm kinda not liking it too much this week.....

LOL! The only video I have is from the day it would not start. I refused to take the camera the day it ran. Go figure.

Are you going to run any drags with the boat.. Or is it just your new playboat?

I would not mind racing it, I raced 10.90 and 9.90 cars for about 8 years.
But with my job now it would be almost impossible to make any races on a regular schedule.
Truth be told, I really don't even know where to look or who to talk to about local races. I would like to race it occasionally.
Debbie is the one who is hooked. She wants to go racing very bad.
