What a 2 weeks "off" this was. Drove home to CA, flew straight to Alaska to see my Dad. 2nd round of Chemo for prostate. Diagnosed 12 years ago so he is one tough bastard. Everyone there pretending he isn't dying. THAT was a pleasant week, let me tell you. At least Debbie got to see my old stomping grounds.
Got back home and did 3 days straight of ranch work. Then went on "strike" and took the Hydro to Shasta.
It actually started and I idled out past the no wake zone.
I very quickly learned a few things. When punching the throttle, MAKE SURE the wheel is straight!! That SOB went from 30 MPH to "Blurry" in a matter of seconds! I have no idea how fast I went, but I know my other boats do 70 and faster. Tell you what, they may as well be standing still. This thing just flat laughs at anything under 95 or so!
I saw a wake in front of me and my heart stopped, my ass clenched the seat in a manner that would make Brown proud as I braced for the wreck. It just sliced through the wake with out even a bounce.
I put Deb in the passenger seat and we found some glassy water down the Pitt arm. Let 'er rip. FFOOOOCKKK !!
The tattle tale said 6600 RPM afterward. It had PLENTY left. She said afterward that she was not scared one time. I was shocked at how smooth the boat rides. As long as you DO NOT punch it while turning.
I have a lot to learn about turning it, but straight line, WOW, what a rush!!!
Possibly the biggest surprise was how FAST 10 gallons of 110 octane "purple" went away. I'd say about 15-20 minutes?
That was a real jaw dropper.
